I think it is possible, especially the V10 in the M5 and M6. In my country M cars are only available fully equipped, the only significant option is to or not to go with ceramic breaks, and of course individual finishes. This makes the car incredibly expensive to acquire, the M6 Gran Coupé costs almost exactly the same as a Panamera Turbo S in the US, which honestly is very expensive for a BMW badge. (Mexico prices are expressed after taxes, is a final price, I don't know if US prices are before taxes).

So we are talking about pretty much a super car, which represents a niche market where emissions consequences are things plausible to be paid by the owners. Maybe BWM could go in that direction incrementing the base price in the US.

But an M3/M4 going V8? I don't think that is happening, unless they increment the base price in the US which is very accesible.
62,000 USD for an M3 is a joke, for that money you get a 335i in Mexico.
