Hurricane Sandy

I hope no M5s got destroyed at the ports.

I have a question since I'll be doing ED in spring and hopefully someone here has an answer.

My understanding is that if you do ED, you own the car at delivery in Welt. BMW provides you with insurance there. I'm assuming many wouldnt have their cars insured until it arrived stateside, or am I wrong?

What happens then if your ED M5 is destroyed at the port?

I believe ibrennan is correct.

The insurance you get in Europe covers the car while you're driving over there. You do not put the car on your insurance here in the US until you take delivery from your dealer. In the interim between when you drop in off in Europe and take redelivery in the US the car is covered by BMW.

Correct. During transport till you take delivery the car is in the Care Custody and Controll of BMW or which ever transport company.

Good to know! Now does anyone know if this storm will affect future ED deliveries? Will stuff be pushed back if cars were lost?
