e60 M5 (w/ record low prices) or F10 M5

I'm Curious -

For non-m5 owners that are looking to get in the game, how many of you are still wrestling with the issue of purchasing a e60 m5 or a new F10 m5 - especially since you can find 07's at 30k US and with no end in how low prices may go at arrival of it's predecessor.

To be honest, i'd love to get into a new F10 M5, but 25k-30k US for a v10 is mighty tempting, especially with left over $ for upgrades.

i loved the e60 m5.......until i saw the f10. no longer interested in the e60. with god's grace i am hoping to pull the trigger on a 2014 f10 m5. i have no interest in having one of the first on the road because lets be honest, even if you get one 2-3 years later, they're still going to be pretty damn rare. i think i can count on 1 hand (may be 2) the number of e60 m5's i've seen around town. i'd much rather let them get all the major gremlins out of the system.

in the mean time, i'm loving my 2011 e90 m3!! can't wait to have 2 Ms in my garage!

I was in the same boat as you... I ended up going with the F10... no regrets at all!

I have owned an e60 m5 and have just ordered an f10 m5. I would never go back to the e60. I am convinced that this f10 is going to be a far more attractive package in terms of the ownership.

I had a 9 month stint with an e60 M5 in 09' and fell in love with the car, but of course i know - if i ever test drove a new F10 M5 it would be all over, i could never go back.

But hear me out... for those of us on the edge - currently not of ownership, there's potentially a 70,000 dollar difference in purchasing price - one could even argue you could spend that 70,000 on a residential rental, and make your strokes on your newly used e60 M5 while growing your net worth.

This assumes one is able to afford a F10 M5 which i am saying, otherwise this would not be a choice - but if you could afford both...things to think about.

Even 10-12%, 3-4k off current prices seems to be a steal for a v10

I will have the f10 m5 in a few months, I know it will depreciate like crazy but I am pretty excited about it. I could no longer be content with the e60 model now that the new one is available.

I have been looking at the e60's, 2k6/2k7 and I am seeing mid to upper 30's. Where are you guys finding these for low 30's at? I eventually want an f10, but not going to wait that long for them to come down in price. I figured I'd drive the e60 for a couple of years, then jump ship to the f10. Anyway, any links to lower priced e60'd would be much appreciated.

The F10 M5 looks like a really nice car, but I just can't give up my convertible. Unfortunately the 6-series just doesn't do it for me.

E60 M5 vs F10 M5

I just sold my 08 M5 which I bought in 08 when it was just a few months old (the guy hated the SMG trans). I truly enjoyed that car this entire time and I was about ready to pull the trigger on the ESS supercharger. At the last minute I just could not do it due to the next possible round of depreciation hits that this model would more than likely take. I sold mine for 52K, with some extras, but it only had 13K miles on it and it was in mint condition (as the new owner would tell you). It was one of the toughest decisions I have had to make and it was mainly due to that 8300 rpm redline.

But, to bide my time until I see the F10 M5 in person, I took delivery on a Carbon Black 535 sport which I will enjoy for the meanwhile. Of course, I will look to you guys for the mods on this.
