Re-Delivery Today! Picked up my Sept. 1st ED M5 (w/ new oil pump of course!)

So excited to have it home on US soil! What can I say that others already havn't ... the car is phenominal. Of course by the time I finished the full walk through with my CA I was spot in the middle of rush hour traffic. I'll follow-up with a more detailed review & comparison to my previous M5s, but for now all I need to say is ... WOW!!

Hard to believe it's only been a month or so since Munich - feels like FOREVER!

Redelivery Munich to east coast in 5 weeks. That's fantastic.

You're very lucky. Must be awesome to drive on your home streets in your new M5!

They are probably going to take 8 weeks Munich to GA on mine due to incompetence and inability to run a consistent operation

Fantastic. One of the first ED cars to be back in the States. Mine is somewhere in the Atlantic, heading towards TS Oscar...

Dude I think that you are the very first to take re-delivery after Euro Delivery, then again you did drop off your car on Sept 1st. We're still a few weeks out over here on the West Coast. Counting down the days and the wait is KILLING ME!

Apparently my car was due to be delivered to me today but no one knows where it or the carrier is or when the car will be delivered. Oil pump has been fixed and assigned to carrier. The dealer said it was supposed to be here today but they got no transports.

No problems keeping the Euro license plate! That's great! Hopefully mine won't "disappear" before it reaches the US.

btw nice V1.

Believe it or not, both my CA and his contact at the VPC said my car probably got delivered a couple days FASTER because of the oil pump recall. Within a 7 hour window my car was put on a lift, had the pump replaced, was put on a truck and delivered to my dealer. The guy at the VPC was amazed.

It was a long wait, but I promise you if you think it's bad now, wait until the last 24 hours! I slept less than 4 hours last night ... woke up at 2:30 and went downstairs to pay some bills and read the owners manual to try to make myself sleepy!!!

I'm giving it a try until the break-in period. NJ requires a front plate, but I've always run without one and not had any problems. I think the euro plate highlights the lack of a legit plate and might cause problems.

Sunday's supposed to be cold and rainy here in NJ. One of the items on my list is hardwiring the V1.

I want to do this as well. Had a nice setup w/ the concealed display module on my E60. Let me know what you find to be the best solution. I presume the sunroof would supply the best method for powering the V1.

I'm going to hardwire, but probably use the 12v socket in the passenger footwell again.

That's a thought. And maybe the new V1 power adapter that plugs into the OBD2 port? I don't recall seeing where it was on my F10?

I followed these directions to hardware the V1 today:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...hardwire+radar

The wires identified worked perfectly. The only difference for me was getting the overhead console out. I have the B&O sound system which has three tweeters at the front. You cannot pull the console down in the front. You have to pull the sides down about 3/8ths of an inch and slide a thin screwdriver in to push on the metal clips so they release. Then do the same at the rear of the console near the windshield.

I used the footwell socket for a ProClip phone holder.

Not in million years. I've had both. I promise you the only people who choose V1 are those who have not had 9500ix or ci

That car is absolutely beautiful man. Congratulations. I'm hoping this week is my week. Fingers crossed but won't hold my breath...not ready to suffocate and die quite yet.

They found it on Saturday still sitting at the VPC. The carrier never loaded it on the rig. Apparently it left the VPC Saturday. Its about a 12 hour drive from the VPC to the dealer. Hoping to have it today

Thanks guys! Really loving the color combination. I had a little apprehension ordering a bold color like MCB sight unseen, but really glad I stuck with it.

The plates need to stay on the car following ED per German government regs. What I heard was the rear plate should make it to your dealer since it's bolted on, and the front plate (which is attached with double-sided tape) may or may not make it - apparently a lot of sticky fingers between the drop-off location and my dealership here in the US.
