It's the same exhaust and they didn't change the logo. Lol!

Compare the Bimmerpost picture to this other Akrapovic picture.

Look at the logos on the mufflers. They are identical. Lol!

All they did was change the tips and market it as a BMW M Performance product.

Man I'm tired of being right! LOL!!!!

What I mean by logo is that BMW usually etches an M on the top of the exhaust tips when the exhaust is designated for M cars. After going back and looking at the pics again thats exactly what they did. You can see the three M stripes on the top of the tips.

Yeah I knew what you mean, but I had an opportunity to insert a funny YouTube video to amplify my post.

I know. Regardless it's silly and people will buy it. If it came down to buying either of the two I would just buy the Akra. My number one choice is definitely the Meisterschaft. That exhaust gives baby's nightmares in their sleep.

If it's indeed an Akra exhaust, then Akra already offers two exhaust for the E9XM.

Looks and sounds like the Akra exhaust. I guess they want to move away from selling Akra at the dealerships and going to brand it M-Performance. I have the Akra on the 1M, and I have to say the Akra sound is more refine and elegant than any other options. M performance is different to M parts - of course it is another income stream. I personally will just stick with the Akra.

Totally agree. I wish BMW would make the M cars louder from the factory and offer a "quiet exhaust" for people who don't like loud exhaust systems. Like AMG is doing that Business Package for the E AMG so that it looks like a normal E class... but that might bring trouble to all the aftermarket exhaust companies...

Why is it a negative that this is made by Akra? I am hoping you will be able to order it from the factory and save a bit since you should only be covering the incremental cost over the stock system - plus the toll charge.

Obviously, but with so many people retrofitting BMW parts especially "M" parts on BMW's that didn't come with them or that weren't intended to have them it makes you think it's only a matter of time before someone does it. I think that some of the stuff being done right now is taking away from the true BMW/ European car feel and enthusiast and moving in the direction of the early days of "Super Street" & "Import Tuner". Just plain bad. Just my opinion

Pics 3 & 11 clearly show the M logo etched on the top of the exhaust tips

I'm not sure if this exhaust will be part of the Competition Package. Black exhaust tips were mentioned as a rumor, but not the actual exhaust itself.

Nice exhaust, I have the M Performance Exhaust on my e92 M3 and it is the best match IMO for the car. Awesome sound, balance and no drone...and looks great.

Now as nice as this new exhaust for the F10 M5 might be, the only thing you can do to the F10 M5 is make it louder but nothing else...the sound is just not there because of the TTV8. So IMO no need for any exhaust for the F10 M5, I am keeping the stock which it is actually very good.

There is nothing like NA engines when it comes to sound....

If Alpina works with Akra...i think ///M probably does too...May be that's why they both sound so similar...

BMW is clearly putting THEIR M/// logo on Akrapovic's exhaust. you can CLEARLY see the Akrapovic logo on the bottom of the muffler.
