Aftermarket warranties can work both ways but you need to make sure. I recently got a quote from Toyota on their extended warranties called Toyota Extra Care Platinum. They offered me three options all with a zero $0 dollar deductible. Nationwide coverage and service at any Toyota Dealership, includes roadside assistance, towing, rental car, trip protection, etc etc. https://www.sc.toyotafinancial.com/w..._eBrochure.pdf 3yr/36k - $5k 4yr/48k - $6k 5yr/60k - $7k Their policy inservice date is the date your contract is signed. Mileage starts at current mileage on contract start date.

I just paid $5,130 for 6/70k for a BMW Platinum Warranty. The extra $800 or so for 100k miles was worthless to me as I only have 39k miles and won't go past 70k in two years. I got this at BMW Towson. Sav ed $250 off msrp, plus Maryland does not charge sales tax, so I saved $570 over my local dealer who said they can't discount.

He stated that he went with the 6yr/70k option. I'm going to hit 50k before I hit the 4 year mark. So, in my case, the extra $800 is well worth the extra year on the 7yr/100k option.

You have to get the warranty before the factory warranty expires. While i have heard you have to go to the dealer, and while I did visit, I did not buy in person, I simply gave them my info and a credit card and they emailed me the receipt and the policy certificate. A few weeks later I got the brochure/contract from BMW.

Can you still get extended warranty past 100k miles? I am currently looking at a 62k mile car that will be covered till 100k for maint and powertrain but I am iffy because of what lies beyond that. I am planning to keep the car for a while so I want to get my ducks in order before pulling the trigger.
I was originally looking at 30-40k miles on an M5 but the 60k miles with warranty and maint was a pretty good deal compared to what I was seeing. Any insight will be helpful. |

Resurrecting from the dead....well not even 2 months.
Anyway, i'm looking at a 2013 with 22k miles, very clean car but it's in service date was 8/12 so the warranty is up. The dealer is asking $53.7k and won't do CPO, i guess since the warranty is up they can't. I'm hoping they might cut me a good deal on a 3rd party warranty since the car has been there for 3 months. I just started looking for one and the market seems flooded. |

First off that car is a total stripper...
No exec, no full leather, No B&O, no driver assist It's being sold by the BMW Mini division as it wasn't a marketable car and chances are it could not have been CPO'd according to carfax as it wasn't noted to getting first service visit till after 10K miles. You can buy an OEM BMW drivetrain warranty for several thousand dollars but only covers drivetrain stuff engine and trans for example. A third party will be $4500 for a decent one, however its always a crap shoot. to be honest you shouldn't pay more than $48K for that car, at tops....otherwise you are getting raped my friend |

I'm at 35k now with my '14. I asked my dealership to quote me 100k & 120k third party warranties w/$250 deductibles. They came back with quotes between 10-11k.
I had them enter my current mileage as 48k as I'm current getting a feel for the reliability. This seems high. Right? FYI: Currently it's been in the shop longer than I've owned it. (blown rod - new engine 2nd day of ownership, Driver Assist malfunction which BMW has not been able to resolve) |

I had my local advisor pull service records and they were clean. Also the e previous owner was a 70 year old. Total wrong car for him so he traded it for a 7 series.

It says warranty can only be purchased at time of sale for used vehicle, so how are you able to purchase this if you already own the car
