First 2000km - 1200 miles break in / run-in?

What says the M5 owners manual about to "driving in" the motor for the first 2000km? What do they recommend?
Full throttle

Full throttle
Yes, full throttle and only drive in the orange/red area

But seriously, BMW recommends the usual alternating revolutions and speeds, not to exceed 5500 rpm and 170kmh/106mph. Avoid full throttle and don't use the automatic transmission kick-down.

There's also a separate recommendation from 2000km-5000km (1200 miles - 3100 miles) of top speed of 220kmh/137mph and only use the max speed of 250kmh/155mph briefly for overtaking.

Hi Jason. Any chance you have a postable version of the owners manual for the new M5 ? The wait is killing me and reading the manual might ease the pain .....

SS14, have you done a drive event in the car? My dealer is offering a day at Philip Island but I'm not sure I'll go as it might make the wait harder!

Your car must be very close....

Hi MHH. My car is off the coast of Africa on a boat which arrives at the end of the month.

In terms of drive days, I went to the Spain launch and had some fun in the car there. I am also going to Philip Island next week for the Aus launch.

What day would you be up at the Island ?

Sorry, I can't recall. I'm not keen on trackday launches and asked instead for regular drive when a car is available. I saw the car at Frankfurt which is enough for me anyway.

I know you were not being serious, but seriously there is actually there is a cool site where you can track the ship carrying your beemer.

Anyway, looking forward to the second drive day for the new M5.

Driving the M3s we nudge 250 kph at the end of the main straight at Phillip Island so looking forward to opening up the M5 down that straight ....
