Anthracite vs Aluminum Trim - M5POST

Color: Monte Carlo Blue
Leather: Silverstone II Extended Merino Leather

I like the idea of the Aluminum for a sporty look but think the Anthracite is better looking overall. What do you guys think will look best with this color combo?

Anthracite with Sikar for me on Singapore Gray! The aluminum is nice, but I have an aluminum trim on my current car (G37XS Sedan) and it dents and scratches VERY easily. Never again...

Why not the dark wood trim? In my opinion, it gives the interior a richer look than Aluminum or Anthracite. Piano Black gives an even richer feel to the interior, but I don't want to fork over $1,000 for piano black.

I think Anthracite or piano works best with extended Silverstone Leather. I'd go aluminum with the Shakir or black interior however.

I like the aluminum, but I find that the cheap black plastic bezels around the vents and the lighting control panel look cheap in contrast to the aluminum trim. With a dark trim you don't notice that huge area of black plastic so much.

How would you describe the color of Anthracite in person? I've heard Brown and Gray. My dealer says it looks more black. Any idea?

I have seen it couple of times.....your dealer is correct, its more of a black at a first glance. Maybe it could have dark gray or dark brown effect in the sun , but I never noticed it. Too me it's more black than any other color.

I would go with the Piano Black, if that's not an option then go with the Anthracite, the aluminum has a diamond pattern on it, i wasnt so fond of it

I thought Piano would be best with Silverstone until I sat in an M5 that had aluminum and Silverstone -- it was Full, but I don't think it matters much in this case. The aluminum is far more classy and intricate than can be shown on the configurator, and I thought it was the perfect mix of sportiness and panache that this car warrants. If you were to go Sakhir or Black though, I would recommend aluminum UNLESS you're doing Sakhir Full, in which case the only right answer IMHO is Piano Black all day. Piano wouldn't look bad with Sakhir Extended though.

The pattern is more of a sawtooth than a diamond, and I initially preferred the solid brushed look of my M3's aluminum, but the more I looked at it and thought about it, I concluded that my M3's aluminum is just right for its character, and the M5's aluminum is right for the M5 (see above). I personally would never want wood trim in a performance car though.

I've changed my mind since - I decided to go Full Sakhir with the Aluminum. After seeing more and more pics I'm starting to love the combo.

Went to the dealership and looked at the anthracite. While I think it is beautiful in a regular 5 series I believe the aluminum fits the personality of the M5 better.

The Anthracite looks black in low light and grayish shiny brown in sun light. Just FYI.
