Maybe they took them down until they could update the configurator to show the gold calipers? The calipers stayed blue when CC brakes were last available and selected.

My two biggest complaints are 1) the lack of ventilated seats as a standalone option as it is on the M6, and 2) Individual leathers aren't full as they are on the M6 with leather dash and upper door trim.
Other than that it looks pretty nice! I would keep mine pretty simple and go Singapore Grey/Platinum/Piano + 20" wheels. I would get ventilated seats if they broke that out into a standalone option. Normally I always spring for upgraded sound systems but the reviews of the B&O don't make it sound worth it. |

The Individual leather can be ordered to include dash and doors by going the Individual Special Order route, but the price hasn't been specified. Honestly the leather in those areas is pretty lame feeling (feels thin and hard like transmission tunnel leather on an M3 with Extended, not soft and plush like the main door panel leather), so it's nothing special, but then again a plastic dash is kind of weird too on an M5.... The sound systems are virtually indistinguishable. Maybe B&O is more of a difference compared to the base stereo that other markets get, but the US gets the Premium Hi-Fi system standard. I tried the two back to back and couldn't really tell a difference even with the windows up, all EQ settings flattened on both cars, and listening to quality sources. Neither is mind-blowing, but I'd say both are very good to excellent. My build would be: Tanzanite Blue exterior Silverstone Full interior Aluminum 20" HUD (strongly recommend this after seeing it!!!) 6MT, still on the fence about this BMW Apps, possibly (just as futureproofing and also to control Pandora reliably while connected via USB)

Because of the sound system, I'm torn between M5 b&o and panamera with burmester...definitely burmester is much superior sound system...

On the configurator, half of the exterior color choices show the gold calipers when you have the 20's optioned, but ceramic brakes are no longer available.
It would be cool if caliper color was configurable separately. Or maybe not... I'm having enough trouble settling on an exterior color. My favorite seems to change with each new set of owner pics. I'm loving the Sakhir leather unless I end up settling on MCB in which case I think I'd go with Silverstone leather. If I could option CA, rear seat warmers and top view camera individually I would, but as things are I think HUD and 20's are the only must have options. |

Does anyone have information on the yellow calipers? They look so much better than the blue calipers with the Singapore grey. I noticed them on 2 of the frames in the 360 degree view. My friend noticed they came up with the HUD option but it seems like the 20" wheel option gets it to show yellow as well????

Yes it does, in the configurator, but after seeing it in person on an M6 and seeing the renders on an M5 posted somewhere around here, I think it'd be one of those options that looks amazing at first sight and wears on you pretty fast.

Thanks for the info guys. I would never get carbon ceramics. That stuff is pretty much only good for endurance races and teams with big sponsors.
I still want the yellow calipers!!! |

Ceramic Brakes ditched until 2013
Just heard from my dealer (who sent a copy of an e-mail from BMW) that BMW AG has delayed the ceramic brakes until calendar 2013 which probably means they won't be available until MY 14 in July 2013 build
Interesting as I had a confirmed order back from BMW NA with the ceramics and a July 27 week build date. Will still wait in anticipation for my delivery late August/September Despite the skeptics was looking forward to them given some of the "fade" reviews but must admit I haven't any brake trouble on the E60 so no reason to believe this will happen on the F10 |

You can build your own F10 M5 on BMWUSA!
Not that I can afford on at this point or plan on ever buying one new. I think BMW really screwed up on the color choices.
Besides the NUMEROUS neutral shades...I think all of the colors look terrible except Monte Carlo Blue. No red but an ORANGE 5 series? Then the individual exterior colors and interiors. Why bother? I really hope they improve the choices for the F80/84 M3. Still, no matter what color the outside or inside is...this car will be a MONSTER! Its a matter of time before these are making over 700hp/700tq with software and some other minor mods.

The biggest advantage of soft close doors is if you have kids.
If you have a kid strapped in the back, you don't want to slam the door shut on the kids arm, but you do need a certain amount of pressure to get the door to latch properly. With soft close this is not an issue because you close the door gently.

I think the colors are all great. I ordered an AW M5 with Sakhir Orange Interior. Prior I had a 2012 535xi, Alpine White with Black Interior, and I got nothing but compliments on the color. I think too each his own. Still wondering when BMW will allow for custom paint like Porsche
