Triple Black M5 Delivered!
I picked up my triple black M5 on Tuesday (9/11), dealer installed gloss black front grill, side grills, and black sapphire front reflectors (thanks IND!). Getting tinted tomorrow. Gonna leave door handles chrome as it is a nice relief from all the black. Other options include B&O, 20" wheels, executive package, driver's assist.
I refuse to post any pictures. Not just because there are at least 3 other triple black M5's with very nice high def pics online. But, rather because no picture can do this car justice. Its essence cannot be captured by a picture. I know this because I had seen every picture of everyone else's M5 prior to getting mine and I was certain I probably ruined the experience for myself. Not possible. And after 80 miles on the odometer, here's all I can say: I cannot get over how incredible this car is. Each time I approach it, I am so intimidated by its ferocious front grill/hood/headlights that it almost makes me want to break "eye"-contact (thereby acknowledging that I am not the alpha in the encounter). I have always given my cars feminine names (the 350 Z was "Naomi"), but it's so wrong for the M5. Anything less than "Beast" or "Monster" is just not right. Although I've stayed within the break-in limits, I have had some fun with it and that torque drops my heart to my feet every time. Half the time I'm in awe at how fast it shifts, the other half I'm smiling like a fool when I hear the back-blows from the exhaust. And it's always a battle between the B&O and the car's natural "music". I'm either cruising and listening to some of the most crisp, intense, and out of this world powerful music or turning off the radio and letting the engine/turbos/exhaust take over. In all my young years of driving, I have never before been so enthralled by a car. It is "sex" personified. Passionate, violent, elegant, mysterious, and absolutely breathtaking. There is not another car with 4-doors superior to the M5. And, for me, I cannot imagine wanting any other car as an everyday driver. I have never been so certain of such an outrageously expensive purchase before. I doubt I will ever go through buyer's remorse. I probably would have paid $150k for this car if that's what the MSRP called for, but don't tell BMW I said that. |

I'm one of the other guys with a triple black beast. Fully agree you need a hell of a camera, lens and lighting to snap a proper photo of the car.
I have done the same black out treatment, one of the guys at work said his Porsche told him not to park to close to the M5...... The porsche is Scared of getting bitten....... Sorry the statement was better in person. Last edited by Bmill; 09-13-2012 at 07:41 PM.. |

Dealer installed for free. Overall dealer was very good to me. Sold car for 3.5 k less than MSRP, took care of gas guzzler tax, and installed all parts for free.
Even though I do not think pics do this jungle cat justice, I'll post some after tints are done. Probably next week. |
