F10 M5 LCI Facelift Production Starts July 2013. First F10 Spy Pics.

COMMENTS

UPDATE 10/17: Better spy photos of the F10 LCI prototype now show a new squared off angel eyes (coronal lights) shape, which has started to appear on BMWs beginning with the latest 3 Series, 6 Series, and 7 Series..

The first F10 5 Series Sedan and F07 5 Series GT LCI (facelift) update prototypes have now been spotted. This will facelift the entire 5 Series lineup, including the F10 sedan, F11 touring, F07 GT, and the F10 M5.

We have information which shows production for the F10 LCI as beginning in July 2013, with deliveries starting in August/September of 2013.

EXTERIOR

The prototype F10 LCI shows slightly sportier side mirrors, with integrated turn signals (still camouflaged). The headlights will get LED lights, squared off angel eyes (coronal lights) and may see some additional LED lighting elements, and the tail light graphics will receive a new look.

The front and rear bumpers will also receive styling updates. We can already make out one of the biggest styling changes in the front fascia - a new character line appears between the upper part of the kidney grilles and the area right above the headlights, which should give the headlight/grille area a more aggressive look. The M Sport package aero parts will also receive a slight refresh, as well as the F10's optional M Performance accessories parts.

POWERTRAIN

The updated F10 5 Series will cure one of the F10's main complaints - poor steering. The F10's steering is being re-engineered to be more communicative. The changes will also apply to the touring and GT models.

The 535i models will receive the inline turbo 6 cylinder engine which will replace the current N55 and is expected to debut in the F32 4 Series Coupe. Expect the 550i models to be powered by the uprated V8 N63Tu (the update to the N63 engine) which recently appeared in the F07 550i GT and is good for +45hp / +30 lb-ft torque over the N63 engine.

F10 M5

The F10 M5 should see the same lighting updates (headlights, tail lights, and perhaps integrated turn signal in its mirror), and potentially the new character line between the grilles and headlights as well, but we expect it to retain its current front and rear bumper designs. Overall, the F10 M5 should receive minimal exterior updates.

No, just an added line which radiates out from the upper-outer corners of the kidney grilles. You can see them clearly in this pic.

Got it - hard to tell with the camo, but it almost looks like it gives the F10 a more pronounced nose, which Im not a fan of.

I dont really care about LED lighting, but are the other changes worth waiting for? Im slated for March ED.

Probably not worth waiting for. The 2013 m5 already has the new navigation and there won't be a power upgrade or front and rear bumper restyling.

Yea I was just comparing with a friend of mine - not worth that wait for me as im also timing my delivery with my warranty expiration on the C63. The line is minor, and any Lighting upgrades hopefully will be plug and play and not any changes in shapes requiring new bumper etc. If anything, maybe I can use this to get a little more off my outdated 2013 - not to mention this will be a 2014 model subject to price hike.

Damn, I really thought that the LCI was going to come as a 2015 model in July 2014. I don't even have my F10 M5 back yet from ED on Sept 1st and it's already outdated! Damn you BMW! Damn you! LOL!

Yes I predict for the F10 M5, only the headlights and tailights will change. I really can't see them changing the position of the side turn signal light on the F10 M5. Although it will be interesting to see if there will be interior changes like they did on the E60 M5 for the LCI refresh.

If there are interior changes then our F10 M5's will really be out of date! I think the U.S. Market kinda got jipped by making us wait an entire year for the 2013 model. Now our 2013's will only be a year old before it's out of date!

The E63 was updated around the same time as the E60, so I don't see why not.

im more interested in color options - i believe for some M3 facelifts they added two new colors and removed two. Get rid of Sakhir interior please!

No, the 6 Series came out a year later than the 5 Series, so expect the 6 Series / M6 LCI facelift to follow the same schedule.

Awesome. The day I'm scheduled to take delivery of my new M5, I see this.

Oh well, I'm not waiting almost another year.

I would guess around 9/1 like they did for 2013s - 2 months I'd wait, but I can't make it an additional 6 months. What do you guys think would be reasonable to ask for as a result of the facelift? Wont break the deal if they say no, but cant hurt to ask.

Looks like they are maybe trying to de-emphasize the horizontal hood seam? I'm not sure adding more lines is the answer.

I am almost confident that if the F10 LCI goes into production in July, you will be able to do ED in August. With any luck, perhaps early-mid August.

I might be doing this as well...and as long as I can do ED between the 15-25th of August, I would be happy with that!

I think you are wrong about September 1st delivery for the 2014 F10 LCI.
The F10 M5 was officially released to US buyers on September 1st, which is why it was the first available date for ED. However, usually it is available the next month (which would be August, if July productions begin on time).

I think there's going to be hell to pay if they include adjustable side bolsters in the LCI F10 M5. I can see the community storming BMW HQ with pitchforks and torches already!
