BIMMERPOST once again sponsored the most recent Airstrip Attack, a two day runway shootout race event held at the Coalinga Municipal Airport in Coalinga, California.

The following race featured a stock F10 M5 versus a Renntech Tuned E63 Bi Turbo.

Please post the vids of the stock M5 vs the stock CLS with the PP.... the M5 wins by 3 lengths.

I have/had two tune M157 Benz engines- the tunes make the cars crazy fast. I expect no different when we start seeing the F10 M5 tunes.

Drew has the videos I beat the cls 63 pp twice once from a 40 mph roll and second time from 20 mph roll. It was a good margin of victory both times too. 3 cars or so.

Eric was crushing it out there with the E63. He gets major credit for taking down some big dogs out there.

Guys it's just a comparo run and one of the first vids that I received, there will be plenty more vids of the F10 M5 coming! It's an incredible car and I can't wait tell Nick gets it tuned.

I was looking at the E63 AMG before I decided on the F10 M5, and checked out the options for ECU tunes for Mercedes. Lots of power increase available from various shops, although I don't think the base AMG motor is in quite as high a state of tune as is the stock M5, so there will, I think, be less of a % increase when the M5 is tweaked. For me the chassis and the DCT were the deciding factors to choose the M5 over the AMG. I wonder if at the end of it all the old adage, "There's no substitute for cubic inches" will trump all of the technology thrown at both the Mercedes and BMW motors?

I expect tune only vs tune only, the Benz will pull.

Benz just left more on the table for tuners.

Yup agree, I do think the Benz will possibly have more tuning potential. I think BMW is working the M5 harder from factory.

The improvements never end and you just have to jump when you're satisfied with the car you're buying at the moment. There will always be a faster, or more stylish model in the next year or two. I wish I were as flush as some of the lucky members on this list and could afford the stable of beautiful cars they own! I only have enough green to focus on one car at a time.

Agree, I just buy cars when i want them.... if I waited for the latest and greatest Id never get a car LOL

I was thinking of this today, and you're a good example of the person I'd like to pose this question. You have at least three lovely cars, fairly expensive, have you ever thought of selling some or all of them to buy a Veyron or some other rare exotic? I think it's good to have the variety available, but for you guys with the ability to go for the real stand out auto, I wonder if the thought ever tugs at you?

LOL I dont have enough cars to add up to veyron money.... I have cars, for me, that cater to what I want--- some faster than others, some more involving, some more practical.... but all of them can be driven hard and often so they are functional even though they may only get driven from time to time.

Hah, I'm sorry I did forget how expensive the Veyron is!! For me, even if I could afford $1.6 mil for a car I wouldn't put it all in one car. Having something that suits the driving I want to do at the time, and having a few options for different styles of driving would be the way I'd go.
