Electrical connector design

I don't have my car yet, but from all the pictures I've seen of any part with an electrical connection on it, they are really beautifully designed, the electrical connections I mean. The BMW motorcycles are built the same, and for you lucky others who might happen to also own a Mercedes or Audi, are theirs put together the same way? I wonder if BMW contracts with a major supplier, in Germany probably, who supplies others, or is it an in-house company? Anybody privy to that info?

Thanks JMH for the recommendations. I just got my car detailed today by Rick Nelson at Unique Car Care in Wakefield, MA.

I got a complete detail inside and outside, Opti-Coat 2.0, and XPel clear bra (full hood, bumper, side fenders, and mirrors).

The car looks fantastic! I highly recommend Rick and his team to anyone looking for a high quality detailer.

For those interested in having their door handles wrapped with gloss vinyl

for those in the Boston/New England area I had mine done by my local
BMW dealer (great body shop) and they charged ~160$

The first step is removing the rubber plug located on the door jamb portion of the door panel. Removing this plug enables access to the Torx15 bolt that secures the handle assembly in place. Remove the plug using your fingers or a nylon trim removal tool.

Now that the rubber piece is removed take a quick peek with a flashlight and locate the position of the T15 screw. Although our technician used a 18" long driver you can get by with a standard 7.5" tool. Simply remove the screw and move on to step number 3.

The T15 screw is the only major component securing the handle assembly to the door. The only other area secured to the door is the front portion of the handle. Now with light pressure pull the handle toward you as if you were opening the door.

As you begin to pull the handle you will notice the front portion of the handle is secured to the door via a 2 pin connector. These connectors are removed by unlatching the plastic tab on each pin. For this step our technician used a angled pick, but this step allows for some improvisation.

Now that the 2 pin connector you can safely remove the handle from the door.

Installation is simply the reverse procedure, but please note that while the handle is removed the door will not properly latch. Do not close the door while the handles are not attached to the car.

I like it both ways. I have a black met and the chrome is a nice relief from the all black. I did install IND gloss black kidneys and side grills because the stock car is too chromey for my tastes.

On a white I say wrap them black.

Lol. You can do that too. Looks good either way.

Actually white would look pretty tight. Just make sure your tint isn't full of bubbles and your clear bra isn't peeling off.

Then you are good to go.
