Excessive Camber with H&R Springs

sorry, dont have a pic, but will post one.

Got my car back from getting H&R installed. Height is great but the camber is WAY excessive in my opinion - especially the front.

Can someone else with H&R take a picture from the front of the car showing the camber? I'll be putting 21's on soon and I really done want the lowered Civic look.

thanks !

Thanks for letting us know! I have my appointment for installation this coming Friday @ EAS. I will post pics as soon as it's done. I will also find out what we can do to resolve a camber problem if its to much.

Are you getting an alignment done?

+1. You should always get your alignment checked out when lowering the car. Preferably go to a shop that understands and has worked on performance cars instead of those national chain stores that get people in and out in a flash. Equally important besides checking the camber is making sure the toe is correct (an excessive amount will result in scrubbing tire life a lot faster).

I always thought it was a rule of thumb to get an alignment after lowering. I was curious about lowering mine with H&R's...but ride quality is important and due to "only so much" you can adjust camber after lowering it persuaded me not to. Not only do I dislike compromised ride quality, but I hate front tire noise from poor camber.

Yes, alignment was done, but they didnt give me a print out!

this could just be a result of the lowering but I didnt have this issue on my E60 M5.

I was a skeptic too.... especially since I have never used H&R before. But, I'll honestly say that there is basically ZERO difference in ride quality.

What did you pay total for H&R springs, install and alignment?

Have you taken it to this alignment shop regularly? Do they typically not provide one? If they regularly do provide one and missed it this time maybe you can go back and try to ask for one.

Manufacturer cars have a leeway on alignment adjustment with tolerance range so unless you're lowering the vehicle considerably (i.e. slammed on coilovers) the car's OEM components should be able to compensate for the subtle lowered height of the H&R springs.

If the camber concerns you to the point of worry, take it back and have them readjust to your liking. I'm sure they can set it to your liking that's still within tolerance.

Also, does changing springs void your warranty? I know that technically as long as any issues that require repair would be covered as long as the modification didn't cause it, but in the real world, would the dealership just see the springs and cancel the warranty?

No excessive camber effect at all. I was told to wait 2 weeks for the alignment. Getting spacers then alignment on wed.
I have side view pics in another thread so can't see camber. Looks close to stock camber to me?

The dealer will likely deny any suspension claims because of the aftermarket springs. This happened to me on my old M3.

Can someone post pics of the front and rear cambers with h&r springs?

I did my alignment 2 days after the H&R install.... no visual camber concerns prior or after. The drop is minor guys, 1 inch in the front and 6/10ths in the rear... it should not create much of an issue. And the alignment will rectify.

And in reality a little negative camber is fine for those who drive the corners alot. To avoid real tire wear the toe is the measurement that needs to be spot on.

Mark you can get an alignment done for 100 bucks at WheelWarehouse down the road from EAS. They did mine and I find no travel at lower or higher speeds and the car is as planted as ever at 160 mph and 16 mph LOL

Happy as ever

I had EAS do an alignment while the car was with them. The alignment plus the spacers make it look that the car was delivered from the factory that way. Just do it. Don't fear the drop.

No camber issues either.

I would need to check my latest alignment sheet. I cant "supposedly" get my car aligned at the dealer because I have aftermarket wheels and their rack needs the factory wheels with those holes around the hubs I guess.

I use a local shop that is well known and I think they paid for the 2013 chassis info... I know I have the M6 numbers.
