KW Lowering Springs
Just about every F10 M5 owner is interested in lowering the car and has very limited options currently:
- H&R springs - KW V3 Coilovers (or clubsport) The H&R's look nice, but that's about it. No real performance improvement (or potentially even loss) The KW coilovers are a very high quality performance upgrade, but the loss of EDC is a real struggle for me. What I really want is the best of both worlds. I want KW to offer a quality sleeve kit (springs) that retains the OEM EDC controls and offers a modest drop. I would buy this!! Lets give KW some feedback that there is demand for this product from M5 owners.

I'm sure they will in time. F10 M5 is a fairly new make.

I'm told they don't think there is demand. I think there's tons of demand! H&R's are absolutely flying off the shelves around here. I don't have any problem with H&R...just would like to see some alternatives.
I know Eibach is supposed to join the party at some point as well. Sound off if a KW Sleeve Kit is of interest to you.

KW should just build a coil over that's Edc compatible. This way, you could drop the car as much as you wanted to without having to lose Edc function or a good amount of suspension travel

A retail vendor called KW Germany (on behalf of my request) and they expressed no interest in making sleeves kit at all. This was back in the late summer of 2012.
Also waiting for Eibach springs, they have been at this since the Fall of 2012 and still no words yet on production date. |

I had KW's sleeve kit on my R35 GTR ..
It was just ok .. often made noise and the EDC didn't seem to work. But even without the KW sleeve kit the EDC in the GTR is almost non existant anyways ...

I agree with black markt. I to had a GTR with the kw coil sleeve kit made a little noise but in that car you didn't mind it. It was a noiseie car to begin with. But I would be very interested in the kw sleeve kit for my m5. I to do not wanna loose the the EDC. But I want a lower more aggressive stance out of the m5. When I did the kw coil sleeve on the GTR and set it up rite the car looked insane. But I really didn't notice any bounce or any hard driven but I did feel like the Suspension setting didn't work as much as they did with just lowering springs or in fact the stock set up.

I did the full KW's on my E63 m6- not a bad thing to do since I had full control of the height and the handling improved. But in reality we are talking about a 4300 lb car (F10), no matter what you install you are not going to change gravity. These cars are flat out pigs and unless you do dedicated tracking of the car I think the KW's are overkill. H&R got it right with the F10--- keeping the drop within reason to enhance form and yet keep function. Almost all of the oem handling characteristics are retained (good thing for me) and you get to reduce that small but unsightly gap.
My Black Series has coils from the factory- better handling yes but loss in comfort. The car also weighs a lot less than the F10 so the coils serve their purpose better in allowing me to toss the car around more. Having owned 6 M's I have always liked the OEM feel of the suspension in regards to chassis feedback, steering, yaw, body roll at lower and higher speed turns. I just didnt always like the small extra gaps they had. With all this being said I like the KW sleeve idea. I have had two sets of KW sleeves on my E63TT wagon and my CLS63TT. I liked the way they felt along with the stock amg performance dampeners. The only problem with these cars is they have the airmatic suspension in the rear which is not optimal. The key with KW would be in the spring rates. Id like to see how compliant or stiff they would make them. Normally H&R is rather bouncy but thats associated with larger drops. I couldnt even tell my car was lowered with such a limited drop on the F10.

hi guys newbie here, wanted to ask if anyone of you have had scraping issue when lowering your car. I wanna lower mine just enough to eliminate the wheel gap but at the same time avoid scraping out of driveways. (i know u can angle the car, but sometimes i tend to forget)

The plus is, the scrapes seemed to be on the bottom of the fairing, not the bumper per-se, so it is not seen...
