M5 + Snow don't mix

OP lives in WV, may be driving in the mountains with all seasons on 20's and does not have very savvy CA's. 19" 255/40 winters all around and some weight and should work pretty well on most areas.

There was an issue getting the package from BMW due to part delays. This far into the season your dealer may be out of stock. This may be why he is telling you there are no options.

If you can't get them now pick them up in the summer. Night and day.

For the OEM 408m (19" 255/40 all around) you are probably looking at around 3.5 to 4k with Pirelli Sottozeros. You may do better at bmwparts.com.

I think you can do less than that through Manny Assuncao at BMW of Roxbury (NJ) incl shipping.

I paid $3300 including winter storage for my 20's. This included all stems, TPMS, etc.

Yes, been running the for 3 or 4 seasons now. My experience has been positive, with decent performance both in dry conditions and snow. I have 19" 255/40s on all four corners.

Advice is; get the 408s. Mine came with the Pirellis, look great for a "winter" combo and they actually ride better than my stock 20s w Michelin PS2s.

I asked one of my clients yesterday about how the BMW winter tires been so far this season on his F10 M5 and this is what he said.
**"As far as winter tires performance, honestly surprisingly good. Ice was no issue, snow probably up to about 5 inches or so has been no problem. From a standing start up a hill, it's a bit tricky, but still very doable. Even "goofing off" a bit, as long as the traction control was engaged, you had to really really push it to get it out of control, otherwise cornering I had a pretty confident feeling that I would be just fine. My only concern would be snow above say that 5 inches, i would be concern about the front of the car getting scraped up since the car sits pretty low."**

+1 for the F10 in snow

I ended up getting my winter set late (mid-december) so I did once drive the M5 in ice and snow on rather poor roads with the PSS'....I now think I know how Fred Flintstone would feel if he tried to drive in the winter.

With 19's and 245 PA4's, though, I am really happy with it. I actually prefer RWD to AWD in the winter because I find it much easier to recover after losing grip (granted its tougher to lose grip with AWD, but, it happens). Between the new diff and the extra weight I find it does better than my E60 in the winter as well. The one area where the E60 is better is clearance. My neighborhood gets some pretty bad ruts in the hard pack before the graders come out and I can feel the underside of the chin rub on some of the bumps. (I wonder if that actually is less clearance or more give in the suspension in comfort mode)

Good to hear that the F10 is great in snow. I am currently driving a 2012 F01 750i xdrive (with Dinan) and thinking about pulling the trigger on an F10. One of my concerns is that where I live there are some very big hills (I live on the side of a mountain) and in the winter time, there is a chance we may get snow. Sometimes upwards of 5 inches if the plows don't come in time. I am worried about the F10 in the snow while going up and down a large hill.

Any experiences?
