Went a slightly different route on exhaust

I thought I'd make a quick post (if I can get the pics and video to upload from my iPad) on my exhaust.

What's not so different is catless downpipes like many of you.

Then I decided to do something I don't see often. I installed (TIG welded) electronic exhaust cutouts (dumps) before the stock mufflers controlled wirelessly.

I originally did a muffler delete and I could NOT handle the drone. It was brutal. Maybe it was partially the active sound being pumped through the speakers... Which I've since turned off. Bottom line, I was not happy with the muffler delete. I did love the tips from Fabspeed though. I also have to admit the sound from the muffler delete was not what I was looking for... Pretty much terrible IMO.

So... I removed the cats, reinstalled the original mufflers and TIG welded the dumps in. Basically zero drone now especially with the valves shut, and I couldn't be happier.

Now I don't have to be "that guy" when I pick the kids up from school or drive by the police. I just close the valves and it quiets down. Not entirely quiet of course; I'm still catless but it runs through the original mufflers when the valves are closed.

And because I loved the Fabspeed tips so much I cut them off the muffler delete and TIG welded them onto the original mufflers.

I'll try and post the pics and videos:

Thanks! It certainly works for me.

I'll try to get the videos uploaded so you can "see it in action".

Same ... Would love to see videos of both stock and DP and valve open.

I love the sound of straight pipes but like you, was tired of the cold starts and loud ass drone. I did a Magnaflow resonated X pipe and it sounds amazing. Check my threads, I have some comparison videos. 0 drone and sounds better than stock inside cabin until yet still loud outside.

It might be more discreet than you think. The camera was on the ground and angled towards the cutouts. I don't think you can see them very much at all under normal circumstances

What unit did you use for this setup?

I believe you, I have to make an effort to see the rear stiffening plate when my car is parked. But, just a very small nit pick from me. You've done a great job on an interesting mod, but with that good work you've buttoned it up with those clunky hardware store hex head bolts. I know they aren't very visible, but it would look better with some stainless button head bolts holding those cutout valves in place for when curious mechanical types like me stick their head on the ground to see what you've done. I like everything else about the project though.
