I am not way low on boost, my car just is having trouble getting to target boost at low levels (rpms). If turbo seals is to blame for oil, can this seal be replaced? how? where? Part number? |

1. PCV valve 2. Log boost (by bank) and adjust wastegate 3. Change Primary O2 sensors |

epiphany,
Please let me know who your tuner is. Some other guys hinted they knew, but I have a couple in mind. I am actually choosing a tuner this week and I don't want to go through any of this. Even if you PM me that would be great. I also wanted to do all the preparation involved to get ready for the tune. I was going to buy extra coils and plugs to make sure if I blew one I would be able to change it and continue. Thanks for your thread by the way, love the info and detail you addressing for trouble shooting. |

Well both turbos look pretty good. Everything is tight. Will send pictures soon enough. On my way to shop right now. I did get an image from them regarding the BAR Adjusment for the wastegate. They did not touch this because we dont know if that nut should be twisted Clockwise/counteclockwise, or what does what.
Any advice? |

You can't tell by looking at it... need to remove the downpipes and see the flap inside the housing.

Well, next is to try O2 sensors! Also check if you have a clogged catalytic (unless you have catless DP's...)

Ok here goes
So, just came into the shop and like I said. Turbos look intact. The blades feel awesome. Absolutely NO play anyway. Both turbos are dry, no oil (Downpipe side). Checked blades/propellers/turbine (sorry I dont know the lingo), but absolutely NO PLAY anywhere.
Mechanics told me the turbos were in AWESOME shape. They told me the cats look pretty messed up. They seem to be collapsing. View pictures and take a look at videos. I did not mess aroudn with the wastegate bar. everything simply looks perfectly even when comparing both turbos. Look closely at all videos, and pics. FINGERS CROSSED - hope the car feels totally diff and i also hope this turbo issue will be resolved. more later tonight onces catless DP are installed. Sorry for the music in the background of this first video. They shut if off after a few seconds. I hope all this is good info for the community! |

Ok. Here is my feedback so far. TURBO SPOOL is much faster. This thing pulls a lot quicker, and throttle response is that much more responsive. Maybe the faster pull and spool is making me think the car is faster getting up to boost quicker. Also the sound is just absolutely incredible. Its really intoxicating. I found myself going through the same tunnel 4 times last night just to hear this thing CRACK as I downshifted from second to third and from third to fourth.
It is just a whole other beast. I have to take this thing to the dyno now and see how it responds. The car is still FLASHED with the stock tune. I will probably reflash it back to TUNED once I make a few pulls to see before/after DP install results. QUESTION. Does my tune have to account for DOWNPIPES now? Meaninig, would i have to modify my tune to account for Catless DP and optimize performance? Anyway, this is what a quick log of a THIRD GEAR pull looks like. Can someone chime in? Is the Light blue and Light Pink areas of the graph NORMAL? |

DME is adapting to the reduced backpressure so it goes above target and then it corrects. Get the flash back on and then log. Either way in my opinion the JB4 with BCM gives better control >20psi

Ok. In your opinoin for a car that is 100% OEM, are those two "dips" (sections that actual boost cannot reach target boost) normal?
