Question: Michelin Pilot Sport AS4

I’ll be replacing the tires on my M5 Comp in next couple of months. Currently the car is riding on Michelin Pilot Super Sport (265 front and 295 rear on 20” wheels) and I’m not very impressed with these tires as there is barely enough traction in dry weather. In rain there is almost no traction.

So I’m thinking of going with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. I live in Washington DC area so we get all 4 seasons.

Anyone here has Pilot Sport AS4 or even AS3 on their ride? If yes, can you provide your experience whether you like them or not? How’s the traction? Etc.

TIA

I went to the AS4 after my PS4s split around the circumference
(I'm assuming from temperature cycles but don't know for sure) So far, I've been very happy with the AS4. I'm sure there is a loss of performance compared to the PS4s but I don't notice it.

I can't speak to the AS4's, but I can recommend an awesome all season. I run Conti DSW06+ 275 front 305 rear on my Competition and they are awesome in all weather. Great value and handle the power pretty well using boost by gear to keep 1st and 2nd gears in check.

I heard the Conti DSW06 are soft when it comes to cornering / handling. Is that true?

I have both of these brands on stock sizes and couldn't be happier with them. So far, I've taken the Michelins to club drives around back roads and no issues. Driven in the rain and felt very planted. I'm also in the DMV area.

I've felt the handling was pretty good on the DSW06+ tires. On the Dragon or hard mountain driving they will overheat after a while. But in normal usage they are fantastic. I'm shopping for tires now and I am probably getting another set.

I’m in the Deep South (Atlanta area) and I went from PS4’s to AS4’s and haven’t been happier. The rain we get in Ga comes in buckets, and the car is a LOT less likely to hydroplane that when on the PS4’s. I read a review online and saw the Aas4’s were .2 sec slower around a fixed track than the PS4’s. I’ll take that degradation in lap time all day every day when it comes to the increased wet performance.

These PS4S's don't like being left parked in the sun also, the same was ongoing with a rear 305 on mine with the same split you describe.

Understandable. I live in the Netherlands. Often driving in Germany. It can be wet here all over the year. If not I would have chosen Michelin PILOT SPORT CUP 2 R.
