We've spied F10 M5 prototypes quite often lately, but BMW still manages to show some surprises from mule to mule. Here are the very first spyshots allowing a clear look at the F10 M5's anticipated ceramic composite brakes. Yes, you've read this correctly - BMW finally joins the pack and offers ceramic brake discs starting with the F10 M5. We've added side-to-side shots with the brakes as seen on the M5 Concept to point out the differences, including the jagged surface of ceramic and a different drilling pattern with smaller holes. This will be a popular, yet expensive option.

BMW appears to collaborate with several tire manufacturers for the F10 M5. We've seen test cars equipped with the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport while this one wears Pirelli P Zero tires.

The brown-ish color reminds us of Sepang Bronze available for the previous M5 and M6 models. We're not sure if this is exactly the same color or a new variation of it. The side shots give a good look at the bi-color door panels that are part of the full leather interior, a feature carried over from the E60 M5. The front seat headrests appear to be integrated into the seats, a nice touch found in earlier M models like the E36 M3.

The F10 M5 will be powered by a TwinPower Turbo 4.4L V8 with more than 560hp and be mated to a 7-speed double clutch transmission. A manual transmission will likely be available for the US market.

We expect BMW to pull the wraps off of the production F10 M5 during the M Festival starting June 23rd. Stay tuned for more information and check out our previous coverage in the meantime: http://www.bimmerpost.com/m5/f10m5/

Love the ceramic brakes, but boo on two things:

1. The kia looking side grill
2. The back brake. The massive front multipiston calipers look awesome but the back looks out of place and cheapins the look.

likely. look at the handles and the trim. It is that way even on the 5 series M sport.

so hopefully the vendors will pick up on this very quickly.

The chrome around the side windows and side gills won't make it to the final production. I am pretty sure it will be high gloss black trim similar to current M models in order to differentiate it from regular F10 series.

I'd rather just have an option to make the car lighter, or have more power

Forgive my ignorance, but why are ceramic brakes so great (and expensive) vs regular?

They're 25-50% lighter (rotors) than regular steelies. They can withstand higher temperature's of heat and longer. Plus its racing derived so that alone makes it $$
