M5 Power

How confident are we that the 552hp/501tq numbers are correct ?

It seems strange that they are the same numbers as for the X5M and X6M when everyone expected the M5 to be more powerful ?

Scott26, can you shed any light on the accuracy of these numbers ?

It will have a different tune. Besides, BMW was never about power figures. That's reserved for the Fords and Holdens .

It may very well be legit.

1. The 20% increase in mpg has to come from somewhere. Tuning for max hp will likely negate any improvements over the v10

2. While hp figures are nice to brag about, it comes down to the lap times, handling, brakes ... I bet the m5 will be faster than the x5m. It's lighter for starters.

3. Torque torque torque. This car will please everyone with everyday drivability and brute force on the track

I want one bad.

Actually the mpg figures are pretty good for the m5.

N54 335- 26.1
F10 m5- 23.7
E60m5- 16.2

These are eu combined cycle converted to us mpg.
