That V8 is also naturally aspirated. The sounds are COMPLETELY different. I do agree that the Mann exhaust is lacking some umph.

Don't know if it's the exhaust or the car or both but it sounds like any random exhaust on any random car

That C63 sounds so much better stock too than the F10 M5!! A N54 335is actually sounds superior imho.

And for the person that was defending the F10 M5 sound just because it's a turbo - check out the E63 AMG V8 TWIN TURBO sound - stock and aftermarket:
Turbo:

NA:

Benz just blows BMW away in terms of V8 sound!!!

New M5 is just disgusting. It should just have been called M550i. It has nothing of an M car. Sound is not important? It is. The MP4-12C lost all comparisions against the 458 Italia just because of its sound, nothings else. That is maybe undestandable why Ferrari is not close to bringing back turbo engines, until they "fix" the issue, which seams they have done quite well with the new Maserati Quattroporte and its 3.8l TT V8.

M5 lacks agressivity and sportiness. No it is not slow, but it is no M car. It is not bad but no M car, why it should just be called M550i. It will never sound like the previous, and it looks like BMW did not even do any effort to make it sound better. Are they lacking sound engineers? Yes I think. Even for the audio system. Audi has B&O even in the A3 now.

7.250 RPM is not high-revving, even for a turbocharged engine. JDM WRX STIs have 8.000 RPM redline, MP4-12C has 8.500 RPM redline. The new Ferrari/Maserati TT V8 has revs higher than the M5.

Then, the TT V8 of the M5 F10 is not lighter than the NA V10 of the M5 E60. The M3 F80's TT I6 will also not be lighter than the M3 E9X's NA V8.

I totally agree. The sound of the previous generation M5 with its race-derived V10 was awesome. Half the reason why I buy a performance car is its sound. That Jap vid of the M5 with the exhaust reminded me of this vid of a Z4 35i with an exhaust:

You cant compare a wrx/sti flat four to a v8. Thats like comparing a ducati to a gsx-r.

The c63 exhaust sounds like my neighbours ute.... not what I like. My preference is there needs to be some amount of rasp in the exhaust to give contrast to the revs. The Hamanns has got some of this, and it sounds like the CSR racing and realracing game on my iPad. Perhaps the Meisterschaft??

It sounded like a 150mph exhaust sound clip....?

Edit:
I just heard the V10 M5 again. Wow.

Yea - Hamann exhaust didn't sound great; but no-one mentioned the 720hp & 664 lb/ft of torque; that's impressive. Bumps of 160hp and 162lb/ft of torque over stock.. I'd love to see that run against the competition.

Never liked the Hamann body kits either. Way too ricey for my tastes.

I've heard 335's that sound better. Hamann in my opinion is old news. Lame designs and the same old stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Appreciate the Pokeman music. The exhaust sounds good though. Gotta love the F1 derived V10. Sooooo sexy!
