I changed out just the small i-drive knob from my '13 to a much larger one, it's nothing special not ceramic or anything with a black chrome look and has orange back lights. It's nice that I can get my hand on it rather than the finger picky one before. Last edited by M5Rick; 09-14-2023 at 02:53 PM.. |

$1k for a new ceramic knob is insane, I can think of a few other things like a painted roof spoiler, rear diffuser fins and replacement rear tires that would fill that money gap out nicely

I don't use the launch on mine and just have the BMW techs inspect the standard billet for cracks etc when it goes in for its yearly safety check. |

That's right, it was just the old small knob pulled off and the bigger replacement one snicking in following the instructions, plug and play really. My black chrome one is an aftermarket item.

I was reading "horror stories" of people breaking even at stock power but of course they fail to mention their driving habits.. |

Yeah still some joy, but it's really hard to enjoy it fully in central Massachusetts. Normal roads are 45mph and the interstates are heavily patrolled. So it spends most of its life parked up. The big reason I keep it is it's a manual, but I'd probably still sell it if the right offer was made.
