Much better cars out there for when we all change, i wont be holding out for new M5
This guy gets it.

Yeah I think he may have missed the sarcasm, but its all good. No harm no foul. And yes I still do smile at night when I go to bed knowing what kind of evil sound my M5 makes.

But even though I love the sound of this car, I can't justify spending over another $100 grand on another car with the exact same sound. The only exception would be if it had a V10 or V12, then it's not even an issue. If it were up to me all M5's would have V10's and V12's. Aston Martin is another good example, they essentially use V8's and V12's exclusively but it's all good because they are wonderful sounding engines and with each generation they manage to make them sound better even when they put turbos on them.
If you're holding out for a V10 or V12 M5 you're going to be waiting the rest of your life.

Lol! I'm definitely not holding out. I would have been happy if they even put a 3.0L Quad Turbo 6 Cylinder engine in the new M5 because its new and different. Probably would sound good too. Ford threw that EcoBoost engine in the new Ford GT and it sounds awesome. Makes 647hp too! Lol!

This right here. Given what happened to the 2013 F10 owners--who watched an LCI comp pack better version of their 100K+ new car come out only year later--I'm gonna hold on to this F10 until the LCI ZCP version of the F90 drops.

Spot on. Early adopters get the shaft.

It will be interesting if they made any changes to the engine at all. Hopefully at least they have new turbos.

While it is disappointing, you have to remember that it is probably the best twin turbo V8 on the market.

I like your thinking though. I wish they had done a 500hp quad Turbo inline 6 with a -200 hp hybrid drive with peak combines output of >650hp.

Yep I learned my lesson too. 5 years later and I'm still pissed off about the Pre-LCI F10 M5's not having adjustable side bolsters! Lol!

All of the negative comments towards the car are probably misguided. This forum is filled with enthusiasts mostly, not just M5 drivers. When the V10 went away, many people were shocked. Then the F10 proved to be awesome with a completely new engine, DCT etc etc. The 2018 simply represents a dying brand, a dying M brand. No innovation, nothing new besides tech that most people here do not care about. AWD is nice, but I love the M5 being rwd. It gives the car character and engages thes driver more. None the less, I feel most people here just hate seeing the first M5 from BMW that is labeled an "M" car but was designed by cost savings and updated interior tech.

It is possible to have a fixed rear caliper with an electronic parking brake. Example: Ferrari F12. You will just have to have a separate mini caliper dedicated to parking brake. Ferrari incorporated into the main caliper so that's why it looks oddly shaped, but its there lol. Also Alfa did the same thing on the QV. Same for both CC and regular iron brakes on the QV.

///M just being cheap.
