Love the car.
First, sitting in the driver's seat, you immediately recognize the quality of the fit and finish of the car. It truly is a far cry from other BMWs I've owned (including an e60 M5). The interior is a stunning color and is sure to go with nearly all exterior colors. If you have doubts, I would say fear not just as most other members with Sakhir have already stated. The iDrive is really quite snappy. Driving the car has a very refined feeling. Setting the suspension, handling, and throttle to comfort is truly a pleasure for the commutes in heavy Chicago traffic. Changing all settings to sport plus transforms the car into something completely different. Truly a joy to drive when the road in front of you allows it. The seats are also a dream to sit in. Only complaints are the steering wheel paddle shifters and the sound. I think the paddle shifters should be on the steering column and taller. The sound is definitely muted but can sound pretty throaty at times. The power and torque are pretty much what I expected - not overwhelming but not underwhelming in any way. From the pics, you can see how Singapore Grey changes with the light. I took one close up of the trim and leather which I feel are pretty accurate. There is a picture of some lights on the door that are just another touch that make the fit and finish what it is. The last pic captures why I love this car - a four-door beast that can gently accept small children when needed. |

My SG M5 arrived at the dealer late last night and I got a chance to stop in and snap a couple of photos this AM.
The dealer is about 30 miles away from my home and as you can see from the photo I snapped on the way that the weather here in IL is not the best to take delivery today. With my luck 3 blocks from the dealer and a hail storm or tornado would drop down. So I'm picking up the beast this Tuesday. Can't wait! Car is specs are SG, Silverstone leather (not full), exec package, and I didn't opt for the B&O system. After hearing it I decided it wasn't enough "Bang" for the buck. At first glance the pictures really don't do justice to the color. A lot of members have already mentioned this, but really in person it is a thing of beauty. One thing I did notice is that compared to my 09 M3 with the same spec'd color leather, this leather isn't as gray. Really appears more oyster than anything else. In either case, the finish is just top notch, comfortable and hugs quite nicely. I did point out the missing 2 adjustments (18 vs 20 way) and the dealer agreed this was something odd. They will have an answer for me when I take delivery Tuesday so I'll be sure to share what they come up with. More pics and impressions to follow this Tuesday. Did I mention I can't wait?? |

My M5 finally arrived and I got to pick it up on Saturday. It has been a few years since I've had a car as a DD, I was worried that I was going to miss the utility and driving position of the X5M that I traded in. After about 100km in the M5 and all I can think is WOW! What a beast! The DCT is amazing, I was on the fence whether to order the DCT or 6MT. Had there been an opportunity to test drive a 6MT I would probably had ordered one, but I am now perfectly happy with the DCT.
From the beginning I was determined to order the Cohiba interior, and I was upset when I learned that the leather coverage with individual interiors was limited compared to the standard color selection. Still does not make any sense. Anyways, I ordered the Cohiba with full leather, and the end result is amazing IMO. At the last minute I also change my mind and canceled the piano trim, I will be looking to do something in carbon fiber soon. Turns out capturing the true color of the Cohiba is pretty hard, I am no photo bug. I think it is pretty close, actual color is maybe a hair darker in person. |

I finally got a chance to take a few quality pictures. I figured I’d get them posted before the modding begins. I’ve owned many cars I’ve loved over the years, but I must admit that as a daily driver, this is by far my favorite. I just love this car, and after I get done with it, it should be very special indeed.

While filing her up, I decided to take a few pictures in the rain. The car was actually totally wet and dirty in these picture. I'll follow these up with a real photo shoot set.

Just came back from the NY auto show. They had an M6 coupe which I thought was gorgeous. Anybody who has been to the show can confirm if I was singapore gray. BMW guys were busy yapping and I didn't have time to wait around and ask them.

Official SINGAPORE GRAY / GREY F10 M5 Photos Thread
And; inspired by a picture from the Singapore Grey photo thread.... Picked up from Peter Vardy Edinburgh on Friday. Frankly epic drive home vie the Old Military Road... https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr...mra=ls&t=m&z=9 Anyone facing a colour choice at the moment should consider that in my view; the colour thread on this forum is very accurate. - In that; Sing Grey looks good, more sophisticated than Black, on a bright day. But on a dull day, it looks washed out and nondescript. I was a but gutted at how great the Black one looked; but the next day was sunny and I was happy again... Space grey might be a better choice; but i do want to be relatively stealthy; thus the M5 badge deletion. In terms of spec; I ordered :- Surround Cameras - 1 on the rear / 2 on the side mirrors / 2 on the front bumpers (which were not attached to the X6 i had as a loaner) Harmon Kardon Sun Glass Note I did not take the Internet Option - but the car does seem to receive news etc. A concern I had was the synthetic noise. Well, it doesn't sound synthetic. It sounds epic. The gear box is like a video game. Boom boom boom. Love it. |

We came back from HI a few days early to take delivery of our '14 M5 with the comp package. LOVE this car! More than I expected! I Got 20 mpg on the drive back from Reno to Saint George, UT driving around 70 mph most of the time.
The way the car reads lane position and speed limit signs is uncanny! Two car dealer rumors I can put to rest that I have read on the forum:
The auto headlight feature works FAR better than expected! It's right on the money every time! I am amazed at some of the magazine writers who now love the iDrive but now they can't figure out how to get the M5 in reverse without an aneurism! Guess they just have to write something so Audi will keep giving them deals on cars? I do miss the feature I had on my last 5 series (not an M) that when in D and you paddled down it would after a period of time go back to the D position. If it's on this car and I don't know where or how to find it please let me know. I’m not sure how I ended up with the woven aluminum dash as I ordered wood? Never seen one before and it’s not on the order sheet; however I do like it. Some photos: |

Official SINGAPORE GRAY / GREY F10 M5 Photos Thread
Recently took delivery of my 2014 M5. SG/full black leather/LED headlights/executive package/B&O/20's.
Fantastic car. No comparison to my 550i. I'm a 1 car kinda guy and this easily fit the bill. I really have no complaints. Steering, suspension, transmission, wheels, tires, ergonomics, luxury....all superb as far as I'm concerned. Sport seats get 2 thumbs up. Oh, and just enough, but not too much wow factor. I've detailed and sealed w/ 22ple, added iND accents including color matched license plate frames and a factory color front mount, installed the ExhaustMeister (pretty slick and certainly worth the $120) and plan on hardwiring my V1. The IND stuff is top notch and once the double slat grills are available, I'll switch out the door handles, grill and side vents. Tint was done locally w/ Madico 20% front, 35 back and 75 windshield (legal in TX as it's not really a tint but a film) - I had my dealership place the inspection sticker on some 'cling vinyl' for easy removal etc. I know front plates are an issue for some but I would rather have the option of not giving a cop a reason to pull me over. I think that the color matched mount and frame make it aesthetically pleasing. I'm now happy with my options. Wasn't terribly happy w/ the B&O initially but after some time, I was able to dial it in and it sounds great, worth the expense in my opinion. Executive is a must. Ordered the full leather to set it apart and I love the look. I'm going with the hard break in to a certain extent. Once my engine is warmed up I'll pull pretty hard to 6k RPM and allow the transmission to slow me down - different gears and interspersed throughout my commute. Won't hold high RPM's for long at all and haven't exceeded 100MPH. My 550 consumed way too much oil and I babied it during break in so to each his own. We'll see... I love everything about this car. Too much power, too much torque, rear wheel drive...what more can one ask for? Enjoy. steve.
