does the 2.0x tc autofocus with your 500mm? i thought it only worked for F4 and under and i thought the 500 was a 5.6? how do you like using the TCs? i've heard some people complain of slight loss to IQ, but nothing major. I ordered one a while back, but i think the place forgot about the order (they don't take payment before orders, which is stupid of them, especially in the current economy.) i think i'd be happy with a 1.4 since going from my 5D to my 7D is so drastic, i don't think i'd mind the 1.4 as i think the 2.0 would be massive. |

nice shot cooh23, however i would crop out the buoy or try and clone it out or something.
or turn it into a panoramic looking picture just to get the plastic health and safety device out of the picture. and adjust the horizon line. |

horrizon wasn't too bad.

The IQ issues with the 1.4xTC Series II and the 2.0x TC Series III is mainly at the edges, which is usually thrown into bokeh anyway. If you shoot a dollar bill nailed flat to the wall, you'll see it, but shoot a bird surrounded by leaves and you can't point to it. The III is noticeable improved over the II in the 2.0x based on the tests that I've seen, but it hardly matters. Getting pixels on a small subject trumps edge detail, generally. If you've got enough light for f/11 then they're stunning in all tests. I only use the 2.0xTC on the tripod and often add a 25mm ET to make it a truly great macro lens. Dave

haha, I bet you're right, it's supposed to be 87 where i am in Fort Myers beach area today and for the next few days.... snow wouldn't last too long in that....
I sent my mom home to canada yesterday and she said she just finished removing a foot of snow from her driveway this morning. |

haha. thanks guys.
That was taken at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, CA. I actually cloned out the first buoy and the 2nd buoy kind of gives it something to look at that says "hey, the water is cold, do not go in there" haha. I didn't wanna crop it too much and make it panoramic since that's not the look I was going for. I guess you can go any direction and still have a presentable picture. That was taken with an 85mm lens on a crop body.

faded saturation needs some high-point blacks in my opinion.

I think that's too many pixels and the Clone is placed a little off center in the eye. I'd take it up to 300% and grab some of the lighter background and place just 1 to 4 pixels right in the center of the pupil.

My take on it. Although in hindsight I should have masked the noise from the windows.

Mark, come on! Seriously? Selective color/B&W?
The only people that should be doing that are wedding "photographers" that shoot with these and cost their clients $500.
