used to do some cross country rally driving back in the late 2000's We had 3 E39 M5's pegged at 188 mph, not sure of the actual speed of the car but the speedometer was begged on the little plastic piece that holds the needle past the dot that is past 180mph for about 5 minutes. After many truckers called in our speeds there was a roadblock up ahead and all i can say is that it never felt so good to get a ticket for 95mph about half the speed we were travelling a few minutes prior, but actually 30mph over the posted speed limit.

One of my regrets during Euro Delivery was i couldn't take it over 100 on the autobahn due to break in. I had Porsche GT3s and even a Ford GT pass me like I was standing still (while I was doing 100) in the two lane.

When I was 17, got pulled over doing 80 in a 35 zone. Cop was pissed but ended up letting me go.

Pulled over again same year going through Missouri at 120 in a 65. Cop reduced it to 80 and gave me a $100 ticket.

Nothing crazy since then, or have gotten caught. I've broken 145 here in ga in both my cars.

I really like to keep peak speed in check. I do enjoy some quick passing acceleration though or just hitting it when no one is around but I don't want to get too fast on velocity.

driving home from college in 1998 for thanksgiving in my 1997 Trans Am. Phoenix to Orange County. Pulled over in AZ (in the middle of no where) for doing 140 in a 75, I believe... could have been a 70.

Cop pulled me out at gunpoint. Lectured me for about 20 minutes and then started asking about my car. Total ordeal lasted about 40 minutes. He gave me a written warning (not even a ticket!) and let me go. phew!!

first one is actually a really funny story. I was heading to a family friends grocery store. I ended up getting pulled over in the parking lot of the grocery store. When cop came up to talk to me, I was all smiles because I knew I was going to jail. Officer was furious, asking me if I thought it was funny, I kept saying no but I couldn't stop smiling.

Luckily our family friend saw me in the parking lot and came out to talk to the cop, I don't know what he said to him but the he ended up letting me go with a warning.

I've taken many people to jail for reckless driving when I was a Deputy. Their choice not mine. Their attitude is what played the big part in that. As for me, I have the no snitching rule so I have never been past the posted speed limit and the video on my sig is not me. it belongs to a faithful Bmw Test Driver.

I agree, it's the rush of acceleration that I love - I don't care about cruising at 180 mph which I can't do anyway. The problem is that the car reaches illegal speeds so quickly you don't get to enjoy the acceleration for very long.

fastest ive gone on the highway way was ~285 km/h in the e60. luckily no cops were around.

The M5 really shines when you're doing 120 on the highway and it feels like you're doing 70. I'm certain there are gentlemen on this forum who have had the pleasure of having their M5 on the autobahn and were able to appreciate what the car was made to do.
M3 to 140 a few times on isolated three lane bridge, good times. Pulled over for 94 in 60 but was also in a 4 runner LOL I've never had a ticket in any of my ///Ms amazing enough (both tickets in 4 runner and LS Lexus) :confused

Got a ticket the other week 80 in a 40 . I was being followed for about 10 minutes and my paranoia kicked in. Also got pulled over going 140 when I first got my M5 but got off with no ticket.
