Appreciate your post. However, WhiteFox and I are not using an aftermarket Android display. We are using a larger OEM display that BMW used in the G30/G32 and F90. So we only have to make the video connection. Thanks.

I just installed the 10.25" display with the Bimmer Tech adapter. Like you WhiteFox, I have full leather, and I have to say the fitment was difficult. I had a hard time getting the adapter to seat so that the mounting screws lined up. It seemed like the left side of the leather dash was interfering ever so slightly, so I had to press and hold it down to get the screw holes to line up. Seems fine now, though. Did you have a similar experience? Thanks.

I was able to fit the adapter to the display without cutting off the post. It will, however, get in the way if I ever disconnect the video cable, but the post does not interfere with the adapter fitment. Just an FYI.

I didn’t have any issues just slotted in. It’s best to fit the adaptor first to the screen and then install. As for the locator pin in the bimmertech instructions it says to cut off and I did this so easy to reach cable.

Thank you. Okay, so I installed it and had it coded (not by Bimmertech). Display works, but the BMW navigation map does not display correctly. It only uses a portion of the display—it won't scale up to the larger display. The rest of the iDrive interface and CarPlay maps takes up the whole screen, but only the OEM navigation does not. Is this the case for you as well?

The guy who did the coding told me that this is an MGU screen that was never intended for the NBT Evo system like we have, and so the BMW maps will never display correctly. If that is right I feel like Bimmertech should have disclosed that somewhere. I would not have done the upgrade had I known that.

I wonder if I should have bought the older version of this display made by Kyocera? The key question is whether the G30/F90 ever had the 10.25" display with NBT Evo 6 as opposed to MGU.

Sounds like he does not know what he is talking about as scales perfectly no issues. What NBT are you running and also what was the coding parameters. See attached image with scaling.

I am running NBT Evo 6, like you. Thank you for posting this picture. It confirms that the coding was not done correctly and that the the map should scale to the larger display.

No problem at all - I do get frustrated when coders make things up. What I would check is you don’t have split screen on as this will block a portion out.

Could you put me in touch with the person who did your coding?

I sent these parameters to my coding guy. He insists he tried them and they didn’t work. I have the exact same display as you. So frustrating. I guess I have to find someone else to try and fix it.

Did you code your car with BimmerCode (etc.) or e-sys?

I probably should have asked this before. What version NBTEvo do you have? If you are on the map screen, hit the option button on the iDrive controller, select software version and there will be a line that says

NBTevo_ followed by a letter and some numbers. Would you tell me what yours says?

I’m wondering if I need a later version of iDrive 6 to get this display to work properly. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks again!!

Anyway as part of my troubleshooting this problem it would be very helpful to know what version of ID 6 firmware you have. I suspect you have a version later than NBTEvo_O, which is what I have. There really can't be any other reason why you coded these parameters and they completely worked but for my (my coding guy says he tried them) and they did not (the display would not turn on).

So if you would let me know what firmware version you have I would very much appreciate it!

I am working with my coding guy (who is going above and beyond the call of duty) right now to answer that question. The only way he has been able to get my 10.25” MGU display to turn on at all was by selecting the 1900x720 resolution, which is supposed to be for the 12.3” display. The 10.25” is supposed to use 1440x540 resolution, but selecting that results in my display not turning on at all.

But WhiteFox got his to work no problem with the 1440x540 resolution. This leaves me with two possibilities: his NBTEvo firmware is newer and enables the display to work properly OR the display I bought is too new.

Thoughts? Thanks!

You have the wrong resolution hence your map is showing smaller than normal. I would upgrade to latest NBT version.
