LA to Seattle

Hey guys,

I will be doing a road trip from LA to Seattle for couple of weeks. I wanted to stop by some scenic areas and looking for suggestions. Let me know what points of interest would you suggest.
Thanks for all the help.

I did that drive in the M5 back in 2013. There are some truly wonderful roads and sights to see along the way.

Unfortunately the landslide that took out the 101 to Big Sur is still blocking the road, so you?ll have to find an alternate route, but try to go up through the coast to Monterey and then I recommend going through Napa up the coast of NorCal then go back to the 5 as you get near Oregon.

I took a detour and drove from Portland to Astoria then all the way to Mount St. Helens, then I took the back roads from the volcano to Seattle. Epic roads the whole way but it took a long time.

I was thinking of something like this.

When are you doing the drive? Myself and some peeps live around the Portland area and would be happy to show you some roads and places.

I'd recommend staying close to the coast all the way down Oregon on the 101. So many state parks, beautiful coastlines, and great roads. Nice towns along the way with local shops, art galleries, etc. Good food, too.

Depending on your interest there is camping available (tent or you can rent a yurt). Otherwise, lots of hotels.

Starting end of next week, but I will be driving with my 19month old daughter and my wife so twisties are out of the question.

Me either but I'm trying to convince the wife it'll be great. Let me know if you want any recommendations. At the very least I'd recommend hitting the Newport aquarium, great for kids, very nice town.

I drove over 5 times back n forth from oregon to LA in the past 3-4 years in the m5. Drove through 101 once back in summer, and stayed at port orford, Oregon for a night. Love it! Beautiful scenary, totally reccomend it.

However, didnt like the highway. Roads are in bad condition, and prefer i5 for that reason.

Best of luck!

I googled Newport aquarium and the only one that came up was in Cincinnati. That's a bit off course.

I am taking the school bus on this trip. Wife is fine with twisties, but last time the little one threw up chocolate milk and bananas.....not a pretty picture.

Ha, interesting google algorithm. Further down the page you should find the "Oregon coast aquarium" located in Newport, Oregon.

Here you go: http://aquarium.org

Thanks man. How are you liking your Q7? Is there still decent amount of room left after the third row? We are thinking of going that route or waiting for the x7.

It's a really nice car. There is enough room, although the trunk area slopes up.. but works for us!
