iPhone 5
Sorry if this has been done to death but I have searched and can't find the answer.
I have plugged in my iPhone 5 using the lighting cable supplied with the phone and it doesn't link. What am I doing wrong? |

Audio? Make sure you are selecting the correct source. Go to CD, move the iDrive controller left and select the correct source (aux). FYI, there are issues with using BMW Apps with iphone Your best bet is to connect via Bluetooth you can stream audio wirelessly that way.

It was more the connected drive bits I wanted to take advantage of plus for cover art on music.
My problem is when I plug the iPhone in using the USB it doesn't recognise the phone and it switches from charging, to not, continuously, making a beeping sound each time! |

Try resetting your phone.
Settings>general>reset>reset all settings. That worked when this occurred to me a couple of times. You won't lose any content or apps.
