I know this isn't the same but I saw a C63S AMG in frozen silver (or whatever MB calls it) today. Looked inside and out carefully. That car is just badass. Put together real well. The interior had yellow stitching and carbon everywhere. Didn't like that silly iPad screen though. Outside the body had just the right amount of muscle with black accents. MB is making some real nice ones these days. If these cars are any indication of future for BMW, the new M5 should be unreal. Might be a big assumption there??

Different brand, dampeners, different valving, and shock rates... Benz has always been soft and Ive had 9 AMG's. The GT3R is absolutely firm and level for an almost 5k lb car.

My CL65, E63, E63 Wagon, CLS63, and SL63 all had some form of air suspension. All were Airmatic except the SL63 which was ABC in nature and even that car was soft and it had the optional AMG advanced dampeners (more stiff than a normal SL63).

I suspect the next M5 won't have much more than 600lbs/ft of torque either.
First of all it's not just transmission. By tuning the transmission you move the weakness to the other part like axle or differential or universal joint or drive shaft or... Second by making all of those modifications you are still looking for street car? I call this car a race car and race car is not supposed to be driven on street. In addition those kind of modifications beside the cost will reduce the life of components (and car) and German companies are not going that route. I mean they make cars for life not for 3-5 years (like American cars). Also they want to make affordable cars not a 150k car that just a small percentage of people can afford it. Finally, even 500 lb-ft / 560 HP (nominal numbers) is not manageable to be pushed to the limit for majority of people why do you expect BMW to make a 700 HP/ 700 lb-ft RWD car like M5/M6 ? It's like a gun for most of people...

Does Mercedes have active roll stabilization anywhere in their lineup?

I owned a M5 F10 in the past, a CLS 63 PP RWD AMG 2012 prior to the M5, and an E63 4 Matic.
Realistic comparing, AMG was on BMW M's ass on all these cars. The latest car I have bought was a M6 Gran Coupe (don't think I am rich or nothing, I just bought it at an insanely low price).

The E 63 in my eyes had a lot of advantages over the M5, but a couple of niggles such as the equipment list was worse for the Brazilian package when compared to the M5, and the transmission left a lot to be desired. Lastly the suspension was exceedingly comfortable, but in the hardest settings were still too soft for Trackdays and highspeed cornering. Nevertheless if Merc fixed the gearbox, improved the traction system in the AWD (which was pretty good though) and made the suspension harsher in the harshest settings, BMW M would be fucked. Seeing the latest E 63 AMG S, the C 63 Coupe AMG S, and the AMG GTS, BMW M better step up their game, a lot to beat AMG.

The CLS 63 had an even better set up as it was sharper and more precise (although RWD, the whole car was considerably stiffer). The only major let down was the tranny, and putting power down (although M RWD cars have a hard time too). The CLS 63 is only fractionally worse than the M6, the M6 takes the cake for me due to its awesome interior, fantastic transmission and great performance (handling and power). The CLS 63 was fractionally worse on handling and on acceleration over a 100 kph, and the transmission was far from the crispiness and precision of the M6 from A to B. Nevertheless it was remarkably close.

I highly doubt that the M5 G30 AWD will be a lot better than the E63, I believe they will be equally good. I see a lot of Bimmer Fanboys in the WEB talking shit on how AMG is a lot worse, little do they know, that AMG has steps up their game a lot with every generation of new cars.

I'm digging out of a rock here. Will watch these reviews. When I was at the MB event and sat in the E43, I was not impressed. Rear proportions looked all wrong and the interior had something wrong - squeaky seats or something. Rear leg room was more.

But that being said, if next gen M5 doesn't have AWD, I'm getting E63 AMG S+.

The Sumer video was pretty good.

The weight is 1875kg which is very close to the BMW E60 M5 weight of 1855kg. It's almost 400 lbs lighter than the previous E63.

Outstanding. So its ~4300lbs is really closer to the 4200lbs you mentioned and not C&D's 4500lb figure, which is great.

I will wait till SA or some other magazine test it and weight it before I draw any conclusions.

Correct I just used the 1955kg figure to be conservative (includes driver)...
