Handbrake fault
After changing the battery I’ve picked up an issue with the E brake.
I can’t put the handbrake on at all and when I try it throws a yellow warning ⚠️ I can delete the code it throws but it comes back straight away. The strange thing is it will only throw the warning now and then.?? The switch won’t light up either but I can hear the e brake working or trying to work. Can anyone shed some light on this. Just to add The battery was coded in I’ve tried the E brake reset Fuses haven’t blown Cheers |

To add. I tried another idea. This one wasn’t so clever. I disconnected the earth terminal for 10 mins and re connected. Cleared all the faults and the hand brakes on permanently. Typical. Do I quit and get it picked up and sent the bmw or any ideas guys….

So the e brake was not on when you changed the battery and wouldn't go on and now when you took the earth cable off the e brake worked but now doesn't want to release..

Tricky one I admit and wouldn't know where to start with this one, it may require the BMW 'big brother' box unless someone else knows what's up, shouldn't happen with just a battery swap. I know that ppl coding things to their own likeness then selling the car on without returning it to factory settings can cause problems when a glitch happens.
