Anybody Using a Pedalbox?

I just took my pedalbox off of my 750li and was thinking of installing it on my new M5.

Anybody running with one on their car and if so, where did you locate the controller? I was thinking of running it into the little compartment lower left of the steering wheel. Where everyone keeps their loose change.

The M5 already has this feature. Read your manual.

Even in "Sport+" there is a noticeable lag that could be eliminated with a pedal box. I have been driving/racing with one for several years and can feel the hesitation in my M5 accelerator. Not trying to start a pissing match, but I'm sure it would make an improvement.

I understand we're just having a discussion.

I suspect that hesitation you feel is probably turbo lag, not accelerator response. When I came from my E60 M5 the turbo lag of the F10 was very noticeable as a delay after you punch the throttle when you're already at mid to high RPMs, but you get used to it.

But good luck with the box and let us know how it works.

The actual throttle response on the M5, IMHO, is already too touchy. I don't see a need to have this mod. And I agree with Dave, throttle feel and turbo lag are exclusive.

I did have a sprint booster on my R8 V10 though and it was needed. The pedal and response itself was mushy and all the power would come on post half pedal mash.
