Just Grabbed BMW M #7 for Me- The Original King!!

Well gents I finally succumbed to the 4 door desire and grabbed this 2016 M5. I am doing some new business ventures which will require it and since Ive had the RS7 and E63 but only a 2013 M5 for 6 months; I wanted another go with the M car. So I have my 7th BMW M car and should enjoy this one for a little while

This car is fairly loaded with a 133k msrp. The most notable option(s) are the carbon fiber interior, exterior (mirrors, diffuser, deck spoiler, exhaust tips- all OEM), and the Akrapovic Exhaust. I got a smoking deal so I grabbed it in my fave color of course and rather enjoy the sakhir interior. Ive done some mods in the few days of ownership to clean it up and Ill list that below. The car is as fast as I remember from a roll and the exhaust is not too docile. It could be louder but I enjoy the tone that Akra gives. OE tuning broke (unlocked) my DME and installed an OBD II tune which is strong and all I need at this time.

Quick Mods:

KW HAS Lowering Kit
12mm spacers (front/rear)
RW Carbon front lip
30% tint
IND Painted Reflectors
IND Side Gills in gloss black
Coding by Richard aka V12
DME/OBD II tune (nice gains of around 80 wheel and similar tq or so)

Big thanks as always to supremepower for acquiring the majority of the parts and doing the installs.

And of course to the store and guys who helped me get the car at Steve Thomas BMW: GOLFFRR BMWDavid

love the color and design perfect. Care to share what the smoking deal was. I'm honestly really curious giving how well that car is tastefully done up.

Well I love those CF tips and diffuser but not CF spoiler and lip... I know it's just me disliking those two... Black kidney grils are what any M car needs!
Black wheels are nice too however I have a feeling you will replace them soon especially when you want to replace those Pzero tires
SO is a really nice color no matter interior or exterior. And man this color with tinted windows looks awesome
I think it's time for some Mexican runs if RPiM5 joins us ... I know both of you have tuned car while mine is stock but I will do my best to keep up
Overall Congrats and welcome back to M family ...
Oh BTW now that you have M5, need you to tell me your feeling when you compare MDCT to DCT on AMG GTS

Looks great, but I think it is lowered too much. Looks slammed.

Disagree, as usual LOL, with the trunk lip- to me its the perfect amount of aggression yet not over the top and it offsets the tips and diffuser. The front lip is a less expensive version of the RK one that I can brutally challenge and destroy and not feel bad about LOL As for the tires and wheels, this car will actually see maybe 5k a year and I don't see the need for a set of wheels and tires (does anyone drive their car 10/10ths to need a set of PSS's?) so Ill just enjoy it the way it is.

Yes we need to meet up-- Dave owes me a beer!!!

Its actually perfect recommendations via KW-- the ride is not bouncy at all, especially in comfort mode. I do remember the H&R's on my last F10 to be quite annoying on undulations whereas this set is more progressive and compliant in such situations. I like the form and function of the current look for the car...

Ok so to me as an owner of both and many other M DCT's, the feel is negligible at best in regards to whats better. Where the GTS shines is in Auto or D mode vs the M5 or my old M6. The auto setup with the GTS and its software shifts better on damand via my throttle pedal inputs vs the M5. I know not everyone drives in D mode but when on the freeway in traffic the GTS has the better software in that associated mode.

No way can a human perceptively tell the difference between the actual shift speeds of the two--- anyone who says they can are just spouting out placebo feelings or buyers' justifications. The DCT in both cars are excellent but the software in the Benz is better to me.

Well that was my opinion and you have right to DISAGREE as usual LOL
As far as tires, let's see... I heard Pzero doesn't last much if you lunch the car daily basis.. well you don't... you won't

But I felt the difference when I test drove the AMG GTS
well let's say this way.. when I test drove the AMG GTS in sport+ mode (did I say the name of mode correctly?) the filling of gear shifting was like my car (transmission setting) in comfort or sport mode. I agree the difference of even couple hundred millisecond is not something human can feel it but the feeling of changing (especially upshifting) is different why? I believe one thing can be the weight distribution of AMG GTS which is more rearward (47/53)compare to forward (~52/48)of M5/M6...Or maybe the actual torque of M5/M6 is more than actual torque of AMG GTS or simply as you said (I trust you here ) Benz has smoother software... It is also possible the torque vectoring that Benz is claiming has effects like this

Bout time you got back into a real car Vic. Lol!!

Congrats, once again. I like how on the 2016 M5, when u hit the heated steering wheel button there's a light on the instrument cluster to tell you.

I do need to do a trip up sometime to come visit though now that I'm back.

Forgot to mention - you said you should have this car for a fair while, but we all know you're an AMG fan, and you're going to swap this car out next Spring when the W213 E63S is launched!

I am a great car fan in general- Ill reserve judgement when it comes out but the last iteration of the E63 wasn't that exciting to me. I hate the airmatic suspension in the rear on the car; just too fluffy. The CP steering feel is improved over my 13 (as I can remember that far back) it there is no dead feel or whatever its called.

I do think Ill get a white GTS now that I can spec it out with the ED1 parts.

Yeah probably all of those points have to weigh in. I just feel like in D mode and Sport plus the GTS is more throttle responsive to my reaction than the D mode (3 bars) in the M (mdm, and sport plus). The GTS does have one of the best throttles Ive ever owned in a car: turbo or N/A.
