Its HERE! Frozen Cashmere Silver ED Delivery Report

Im a bit lost for words at the moment. So I'll start with this:

I bet Im probably the one that made the biggest leap in terms of M model year than most here. The last car I bought was in 2002 when I got an E46 M3. In all those years, living in cities (San Fran and then NYC) and taking public transport, I never really saw the need to upgrade my lovingly-cared-for E46.

So when I first saw my new car today I was flooored. Honestly the last couple of weeks I started second guessing my paint choice but when I saw the Frozen Cashmere Silver, paired with amaro brown interior, it looks stunning. That combo oozes class and style. Im absolutely in love with it. Apparently this was the first combo that they've ever seen on ED which I find rather hard to believe but there ya go. I got a few thumbs up from the crowd watching the delivery area at the Welt. :-)

Then I drove the thing... I mean, words cant even describe how this thing pulls. Im so glad I got the comp package. People complain that the F10 "feels" heavy, and the NA F10 might just, but Im not getting that feeling at all. But then again, Im making a pretty huge jump from my old car... I drove the 'dragon road' near Kochel am See today (see last screenshot) and after driving north to south, I immediately did a u-turn and did the road again. There was no traffic luckily and I gotta say that was the best fun Ive had in a loooong time.

Thanks to the 2 of you that actually read thus far... :-) I know you all want me to quit my babbling and get to the point: the pictures! Here are a select few pics from today, delivery day: ('ll update this thread with more pictures from tomorrow. Thinking about heading up the Grossglockner if the weather holds up).

Thanks goes to everyone on this board who's knowledge and experience guided me thru the past 2 years I spent researching the exact build I wanted. You guys rock!!!

Cheers!
f.

UPDATED with some more pictures and a 'A Note about Frozen Paint' below. I'll post a lot more pictures as I process them...

A NOTE ABOUT FROZEN PAINT:

TLDR (Too Long, Didnt Read) Version: Everything you think you know about frozen paint care is wrong.

If you're on the fence about getting a frozen paint and hesitating because someone that read something on a forum written by someone who's uncle's cousin has a frozen car says its too difficult to maintain... STOP hesitating and GET IT.

I know because I was one of those morons that thought the same. In short, frozen paint is easier to maintain and requires less care (yes, thats not a typo) than regular gloss finish paint. Simply because dirt, grime etc when it accumulates on the shiny gloss surface shows up and you have to clean it to maintain that new car look. Frozen always looks "dirty" and thus dirt doesnt even show up! Most of my shots in the pictures were taken with zero cleaning since delivery. There's a reason why when you ask people that actually own a frozen car, they'll corroborate what I said above. Just ask the guys that actually make these M cars: Most of the guys at the BMW M division own frozen cars and they treat them just like any other car. Indeed, the only people that think frozen paint requires more care are those that dont own one.

Im happy to be proven wrong about how much care I'd have to take on the frozen paint. And Im happier for it.

As for the frozen cashmere paint. The more I looked at it the more I fell in love with it. It looks different in sunlight vs overcast skies. Its slight golden hue comes out in natural sunlight (which you can probably tell in the very last picture taken inside the WELT parking lot). Unfortunately I didnt get any sunshine outside so those will have to wait until its stateside.

Congrats - looks amazing.

Now there's at least two of these rare colored cars in the tri-state area.

Erm, no. You were right about the paint. I was wrong. Updated with some thoughts about frozen paints in general. Those of us that own frozen paints need to speak up and set the record straight. :-)

Ah yes, now the long wait. Just be glad that you live on the East Coast and the transit time is a lot shorter. No Panama Canal for you my friend.

Having had a frozen silver edition M3 for 2 years and 40,000 miles I agree with you, it's incredibly easy to look after, doesn't show swirl marks or light scratches as the light is absorbed/defused rather than reflected and always looks cleaner than a gloss car. I'd go as far to say the BASF satin coat is harder wearing and more resistant to bird lime as well.
