Drove my friends 570s at the wannago fast event yesterday and hit 162.8. Car is tuned with HFC.

It was fun overall but only made one pass due to rain.

I heard the event was a bit of a mess with long lines, poor planning, etc.

Oh yes the event itself was terrible. Their equipment broke also which shaved off about an hour.

I went on Sunday and was surprised my stock M6 GC trapped 149. Not bad considering a guy with the yellow Audi V10+ trapped 149.

It was better on Sun. Always better after 4 PM where you can do run after run with minimal wait times. Weather was good. My M5 with JB4 (non BCM) MSR intakes trapped 153.6 on the best run. Able to beat Lamborghini Huracan.

You sold your car to a guy named Charles from Ga right? We have done some cruises and went to drag strip together a few times. He got an excellent deal on your car. There were a few things he had to fix, but for the price it was a bargain. Look familiar?

Yeah... Turns out the shop that built my car didn't care for it meticulously as I would have liked, left a few leaks on the car (minor dollars for me to have fixed under my ownership if they'd just told me) and did a few things less than stand up, like billing me for head studs and leaving OEM ones in.. Just dumb s* that I surely would have paid for or did pay for.

But he got it sorted and still ended up with a good deal overall, and seems happy with it.... Which I'm glad, it was a wild situation, he probably spared me from sending more friends/ people to that shop, and then sending my R8 there.

After three plus years and multiple turbo kits with said shop, I felt it best to just part ways quietly.

One reason I've become so adamant about using only the best shops, it would have been worth the 5-6k I saved to not kinda get taken for a ride, and gone to AMS/T1 two of the best in the GTR world... Than god-forbid had some of the problems other GTR guys have had when their cars break.

But I'm very glad he's had no problems other than exposing a few issues, he did me a bigger favor cause my R8 woulda been likely taken apart by the same people

Would that shops name happen to start with B**** Performance? If so, they actually did a shitty PPI for the GTR I purchased several months ago.

Na, They've changed around management too there so its different now than before.

This was out in PA, I found them through mutual friends who had successful evo stories although now I wonder how successful that all was.

I saved a ton on labor, didn't really save much on parts, which is where my guy likely pocketed most of his savings. It wasn't blatant theft but he cut plenty of corners to either save himself time, money, or both.

If you have a GTR I'd advise working with Tony Palo and T1 or AMS (T1 is very reasonably priced build wise now, just takes some emailing). I know theres tons of other shops that do marketing and have name recognition, but those two are above and beyond quality and knowledge for the platform, the car will work and work well if you send it there, and they don't have horror stories like most of the shops I could speak on privately. Or do that take from peter to finish pauls build

I wasn't so much concerned with the cash I lost (I put it around 2-7k, in pocketed side cash), or the risk it could have done to my car like leaving my valve cover gasket leaking, or oil pressure sensor not working and just changing the gauge on the screen.

I was much more upset how much I plugged the guys business on the GTR groups, or friends who didn't have as much money as me but almost built their GTRs there and might not have been able to eat a sloppy loss or theft or non-helpful owner. Doing that as a friend and putting my reputation and word in jeopardy over a few K and laziness was the thing that upset me the most lol

The guy doesn't get enough GTR business that I felt I needed to blast publicly or get into a little local drama over something that happened 2 years ago when the car was built.

Sorry for the rant lol.

Wow, sounds like you have had a miserable experience. I had the same when I initially bought the car. Took it to a shop that "appeared" to be good and ended up having to take my car to Topspeed Motorsports to fix issues created by the first shop I took it to and retune. I nearly sold the car after a few weeks of ownership because of all the issues I was facing and all the money spent to fix it. Topspeed has been really good and they also sorted out Charles car in a few days. Sounds like you went to the R8 due to frustration from these shop issues, maybe you'll come back to a built GTR after the bad experience wears off?

Actually no, I was still heavily under the impression that my business was valued and was all set to get them my R8.

What changed my mind was one of the techs felt it okay to get on social media and get into a verbal spat with me, which I'm a big boy, I troll and talk my fair share of S*.. But when you cross the line as an employee to a customer, especially one that spends what I spent, that was a first big shift..

Then waited for an apology that never came, but still was going to put long term friendship with the owner first once the GTR got sold.

But once he bought the car and found all these things out, about the car that I didn't know about or were just lazy and uncared for, I decided to part ways, quietly just removed tags, reviews, pictures, etc. so its as if I never went there.

Given the cost of the 5.2 and R8 parts and how a shop would stand by there work if something went wrong, I have zero faith given the costs and knowing what I know now that, that shop would stand behind both their work and for me.

I'm very glad Charles took it apart and I learned quiet a bit he saved me a massive headache that could have come with this R8... Again my beef wasn't the syphoning of my build money likely into the pockets, or even the sloppy work..

It was that I invested my time writing reviews trying to get people there to help what I thought was a friend, and put my reputation in the GTR community, and local community on the line lol. That I have a big problem with
