I'm pissed a little bit . When I had my e60 m5 , on Sunday morning I was going thru the toll , no cars only me , stopped to pay for the toll I looked in the mirror and what I see? A woman in her white Benz doing makeup and driving right in to me .
This time I stopped at the red light - on the left line , no cars on the right , three empty lines . This time I didn't look at the mirror but I felt a big impact !
Thank god Every one was ok . My 5 years old daughter was scared and crying , the first thing she said was " daddy is our car ok ??
I dropped off the car at the body shop today and had the adjuster from the ins to look at the damage .Couple of hours later I got the email from the adjuster - over $7k in parts and labor ,every thing covered by her insurance .
I also have erace installed and after the accident there is one small cheap , I think I can live with it . They don't cover after market parts.
Over all I'm happy no one was hurt and I don't have to pay for this "minor" expensive repair .I'll have my car back in 5 days .

What no coverage for aftermarket parts? This situation is not your fault. It's her fault for the accident. If the insurance doesn't cover, tough beans. You suffered a loss. You'll need a receipt and show what it cost to repair/replace the part and then sue the other party for replacement / repair your exhaust as new. Also push for a like for like loaner and get a BMW/Mercedes when your car is in the shop.

This business of women doing make-up while driving really is pervasive. I see it all the time in Miami. And they often crash.

Quite frankly I think it should be punished in the same way as DUI. We are too slack on this sort of thing. Suspend license for first time you are caught doing make-up in car, and jail for the second offense.

Might as well add texting to that list as well.

Thy want to replace the scratched muffler with the oem bmw . I refused it so they agree to issue me a check for 1300 to compensate for the damage . I'm happy with that .

Sad to see the beast damaged, but as long as all parties are healthy that's all that matters.

As for the aftermarket parts coverage, I would demand they cover the parts. I have had customers in the past who had their damaged aftermarket parts covered and replaced with brand new parts by an insurance company after an accident. Be adamant with them about that!

Glad to hear that everyone is okay. It'll be fixed don't worry. Here's mine from yesterday. I'm waiting for repair shop to estimate how long it will take to do mine.

I had similar situation happen, where the at fault driver's insurance would not cover anything aftermarket. I simply said fine and told them that the back pain and neck pain I'm suffering and seeing a doctor for will no longer be run thru my personal insurance but theirs. They changed their attitude immediately. Check was in the mail within one week!

Agree with Suspending the license but jail is too much man ...
BTW rear ended happened to me years ago. She was playing with her pet behind the wheel

Don't worry guys. Nothing major besides some loose change and keys. Only thing really bugs me is that I can't drive my car for a few days

I don't think jail is too much. If you hit someone twice because you are distracted, who's to say the third time it won't be a pedestrian.

I've never rear ended anyone. It's not hard to keep your eyes on the road.

Some of these women need to go to jail.

Let's not forget the idiots that drive with their dog on their lap! I've even seen it on the highway at 65+ mph. How is that not distracted driving?!?!?
