you guys are all brave, my m6 made 727whp and 802wtq 1 time on the dyno, i didn't run that power setting every again! Would have at the track but never got to it before I sold the car. Its insane to run these cars at that level on stock internals. Im not even sure why anyone does turbos on stock engines, i guarantee the vast majority have bent rods even if it appears to run ok

Should I be concerned about my engine if I drive my car hard with just piggy tune, air intake and aftermarket catted DPs?

Sorry to hear bud, a few guys have had similar issues, but yours seems a bit different. I agree with you it looks like an oil problem, is it just the picture or is the crank at 3/4 that blue from heat? If so that was a lot of heat that ate up those bearings and basically seized them up.

I wouldn't be if you're warming it up properly before playing.

I hit a deer in my M4, long story short donated the first engine to MotiV motorsports as the owners a great friend, and they in-tern lent it to the company responsible for fixing the crank hub on the m3/m4 motors, anyway long story short I bumped into him a few weeks ago and asked him how the guts of my motor were, as I THROUGHLY enjoyed that car... With JB4 alpha testing for terry. He said my bearings were trashed at 19k from likely not warming it up and getting on it, and that it probably woulda died within the next few thousand miles being driven like that.

Thanks for sharing. I usually let the temp gauge move above 160 before I start driving hard.

Were you creating logs with the JB4 when this happened.
A common scenario that creates this failure is while performing multiple back to back logs and the engine oil starts to break down and loose its protection and this is 1 reason why you get rod bearing failure.
Shit brand oil. Factory oil is NOT a motorsport brand oil that is made to handle the abuse we put these cars thru.

Agreed on the oil, bmw doesn't use a full Ester synthetic. Would recommend liquid Molly or Motul full Ester synthetic.

Planning on switching to Motul 8100 5w-40 xcess. With 5k mile interval. Think that is sufficient?

+1

....remember use only top shelf oil and additional octane for engine protection at high boost 25 PSI+ ! ;

**also make sure your plugs are properly gapped (BMS recommends 0.020)

I use this;

With even a proper Motorsport oil, doing back to back logging with long and hard pulls will take its toll on the oil. It's so important to let the engine cool down after each logging run. Especially longer run logs.
