Michelins or Goodyears?

Dear All,

I couldn't find anything in the tire forum, so I am posting it here. I need a new set of tires (given that I will indeed get my car back). Should I just stick with the factory Michelin Pilot Super Sport or are there better (better grip) tires?

The only tire that I could find for my 19" wheels are Goodyear EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 2. Are those better than the Michelins?

Thanks for your input.

H.

I personally like the performance and looks of the PSS tires over the Goodyears.

C&D ranked the Goodyear 6th and the PSS 1st.

Goodyear's aren't even an OEM option. I'd stick with the MPSS or maybe consider the P Zero's.

Unless you are looking for a tire to go to the track with, stick with the PSS's. The PSS's offer the best grip, side wall construction technology, and tire wear than any other tire out there right now pretty much, well at least for the stock F10 M5 19" tire sizes. Now if you intent is to take your M5 to the track more often and need a better performing/grippier tire then that's a whole different ball game. Not only that but the OEM PSS's (the one with the star on the side wall) were specifically designed for the F10 M5 by BMW and Michelin. You won't find a better performing tire really.

P Zeros were ranked 9th - even below the Goodyears in C&Ds test.

My own experience with P Zeros is that they are piss poor performance tires.

Thank you all for your swift replies. Which tires would come to mind @RPiM5 if I did want to take the car to the track more often?

P Zeros sucked on my C63, and cost more than PSS

I am not he, but the answer would be Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. However the benefit over the PSS is small and the loss of wet traction and longevity is big.

I have seen some posts regarding the PSS Cup tires. They seem to help noticeable in the dry with traction and less wheel spin but are a issue in the wet. So if you are a two car guy the Cup tires might be a interesting option.

And for the record don't even think about something other than the PSS
