Eisenmann Race - Initial thoughts

I actually thought it would be louder. How are other people with just the rear feeling about it? Lots of drone in higher RPMs too. Would catless DPs solve my craving for more?

I only get a drone at 1800 rpm. Do you have center pipes?

If you think Erace is too quiet then you definitely need DPs. My rears are at the limit of my family's tolerance.

DPs make a huge difference in sound.

Cant speak specifically for my current F10 M5 but on my Boxster Spyder I changed to catless long tube headers with the OEM porsche sport exhaust and the difference was major. Didn't like the smell so I got an aftermarket FVD valved Exhaust (light weight) and put back on the OEM headers. Happy with the sound and performance but was MUCH louder with the catless DPs despite the stock exhaust.

Another example was my last car CLS 63 added Renntech DPs with sport cats and made an already great exhaust much better.

My opinion for the F10 M5 would be to do DPs because not only we get the sound most of us desire but also the major performance gains.

The performance gains on the Mercedes were published as not being all that great. May be were the cats are already located lower down away from the engine vs the BMW

Well here is a video of my Dinan Exhaust and Noelle Downpipes. It might not be loud enough for you but I bet if you put on AMS catted or even what I have if you want to pay for no CEL, you will like the total sound. I think catless is too loud for my neighborhood but it does sound good on the cars that I have witnessed in person with it.

Ok this sounds good. And so yeah, i had my buddy take it up the block while i listened and its very loud....its amazing how much our cars block sound from coming into the cabin..first i heard it outside the car since i just got it installed earlier today

I think i will still so AMS DPs and possibly catted.

Btw how do you like the dinan setup as a whole?

The more I drive it, the better it gets. The sound is getting better (I make sure to drive with the windows down a lot) and the engine seems to be grabbing more now where it wasn't earlier. I am anxious to take it out and get some more vbox numbers with it. It has had about 400 miles to adapt now so I may drive over to my properties this week and look at a couple and also see what the car can do on a more ideal surface.

Jared, glad you like the e-race. It's much louder outside. DPs will seriously amp up the sound from the outside. Interior noise is still muted.

Can you run a AMS DP and just Erace section 3? From what I understand the entire exhaust is 1 piece so it would just have to be cut off and rewelded?

I had my Eisenmann Race for a few months but was hoping for a bit louder set up, wonder if the AMS DP will make that happen..

Thanks for picking up on the Spyder. I also love it. Having the M5 and the Spyder is awesome as they really compliment each other. The M5 is the daily driver of course. Planning on keeping the Spyder for a long time.

I've seen your posts on Rennlist and have followed the engine conversion threads. I've spoken to John Tecce and he seems like a great guy. For now I'm considering some more conservative mods like long tube headers etc.
