Over/Under on a JoePa resignation?

The more this story unfolds, the more I can't believe Joe Pa just sat back and did nothing...for years.

Knowing how powerful he is to that University...I would think this is more his responsibility than anyone else. Going outside of the law aspect of this...morally he's responsible.

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoot...t-happen110511

I'd would state that if Joe Pa had any morals left...he'd be out tomorrow. But I have a feeling it won't be until the end of the season.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Fucking disgusting. I don't know how the grad student could witness that and not call the cops immediately. He goes and talks it over? Should've beat his ass and called the cops then and there.

As an alum it makes me sick. So many twisted people out there. People need to stop treating sports icons as gods and more like normal people. Joe Pa has been too old to function for many years now. Regardless if he did what the proper procedure was he knew the details that a ten year old boy was being raped in the shower by a grown man. I'm sorry but procedure or not I would have taken that right to the State Police and made a much bigger deal of it right that moment. They are all at fault and should all pay for it.

Not only that - it was in one of HIS OWN facilities. It was HIS program.

He should be forced to resign and the NCAA should expunge every record or statistic of his. That's just really disgusting and disturbing, and I would have expected a lot more out of him. Then again, I said the same thing about Tressel (although this is WAY worse than the OSU stuff). I guess you can never tell these days who really is into all that "morals" and "ethics" stuff.

Anyone who had knowledge of this (especially first-hand) who did not go directly to police should be charged as an accessory.

I agree. Not on the Tressel part though. Tressel fucked up but I'm still not 100% sold he had to step down. I mean tattoos and selling their own items doesn't equate.

Now regarding JoPa and Penn St. I think they need some harsh penalties over this. JoPa needs to step down or be fired. As for the team I honestly think an SMU death penalty ban would be fitting. Harsh for the players definitely, but would you honestly want to keep playing for the program after knowing they have been harboring a child abuser and knew for a decade or more and done nothing.

Considering the NCAA goes a little overboard on lesser offenses and turns a blind eye to others(cam newton) they really need to bring down the sledge hammer on this one and make it clear it is not OK to hide child abuse.

Want a harsh penalty? Fire his ass...immediately. Then, make the organization forfeit every win they've had since he covered this up in 2002. That would take 81 wins from his precious little record.

Then, we can have Bobby Bowden come and speak to him about ethics.

The more I think of this...the more I think Joe Pa is a true scumbag.

He most likely won't resign and will have to be forced out. The older they get the more they lose focus of how much they might actually be hurting the program. As sad as it was Bowden had to be forced out. JoPa will have to have the same happen to him.

I like this as well. I still think the program should be shut down for a year. The kids in the program should all move on without having to sit out a year and let penn st start fresh with a new everything.

I personally would leave the program yesterday if I knew my coaches, AD, and VP of the school have been turning a blind eye to this for the past decade.

I have $1,000 for 3 minutes alone with that rapist POS scum.
VERY disturbing that this was hidden for so long.

Giving players a buck or two or even a car or what not seems so meaningless when you hear of a ranking official committing sexual abuse towards children ON CAMPUS PROPERTY.
Torture the bastard.

I wasn't comparing atrocities between them; there's no comparison to be had there. I was just saying I was surprised when things came to light about him too. In the end, Tressel truly believed he was protecting his "kids", but knowingly violated the rules to do so. This Penn State stuff is on a whole different level; the only guy protected was a pedophile and rapist. I don't think it gets any more disturbing than that.

I hope they throw the book at everyone they can, Investigate everyone leave no stone unturned.
Disgusting, Fucking disgusting, who turns their head to that?

NCAA needs to let all players transfer out without penalty, let them get as faraway as possible.

The sad thing this is just the tip of the iceberg I am sure more children will come out with more allegations.

Does anyone know what the student body is doing as far as protests?

What is really interesting is that the District Attorney that was supposed to have spear headed it and followed up on things at the time of the encounters, went missing shortly after. He has been missing for years and recently was declared "legally dead" earlier this year. The only things they have found from him are a wallet and some other various personal effects.

Who knows he could be buried under the end zone like Jimmy Hoffa....

Personally I think that he shouldn't have been forced out even thought he's getting senile. JoePA has brought millions to the college and is/was a great coach. What happened is a tragedy but at the time of the incident he reported it as he was supposed to, as the protocol called for. It will be interesting to see how this effects a hall of fame ballot in the future....

I'm sure these kids who where abused 'after' JoePa could have put a stop to it, are all glad the college is doing so well.

Seriously? Did you just fall off the turnip truck before you posted this? Legally, I still question, that with his power, he did not have a hand in the actions that took place. Morally, this guys more than just senile, he is a complete scum.

Maybe it's that I'm a father of a 12 year old son, and there is absolutely no way I can fathom someone his age being subjected to the things that happened on and off that campus.
