The 30.4 second car is just that, one single test, where as now there are multiple tests (those test results are also posted in this forum somewhere) that showed the M6 is not a 30 second 0-300km/h car. Can you find another test that had the M6 ran 30 seconds?

It's fine if you are sticking with 30.4 but personally I throw out the best and worst times and pick the average as it shows more consistently of what the car can do. So to me the M6 is not a 30 second car, maybe once in a blue moon and all the stars align.

And the M6 is a quicker car than the M5, so new M5 breaks 30 seconds? Just seems unlikely to me.

As for the TTS comparison, no need to read too much into it, I am just saying you are expecting the new M5 will run shoulder to shoulder with it from the dig and all the way to 300km/h.

As for the pix, I know not all of them did 0-300km/h but at least I have two tests that showed M6 Couple and GC needed 34 seconds + to hit 300km/h vs your one test result. And the other four test results? If they can't even break 12 seconds in 0-200km/h, they are not going to be anywhere close to 30 seconds in 0-300km/h. I would like to believe that M5/6 is already a 30 second car even in current form too, but more evidences says otherwise.
The report is a little unclear... it says M6 Gran Coupe (which is about 200 lb heavier than M6 Coupe) but the picture in first page shows Matt Black M6 Coupe. That's enough for me to not believe this report
Post more clear reports please

I tend to agree with Vic's point about the easier car to drive in most situations. That would generally favor AWD. Along with a responsive engine with driveable torque curve, such a car usually turns out to be the faster car in most situations with ease. I think it's time to go with the program. Rear wheel drive cars are no longer competitive with the power levels we are talking about now and in the near future. BMW understands that and hence, the option of xDrive for the upcoming M5. Never quite understand the silly purist theory of being exclusively rear wheel drive. It's not like all these so-called purists drift their cars every now and then. It's nothing more than an ego trip for them. As for AWD induced understeer, it's not a major technical issue that can't be overcome with some engineering. I don't forsee the next M5 dipping below 30s to 300km/h. They generally don't make huge leaps between generations so as to leave something in reserve for the comp pack or something.

I see your point and I have to agree with most of them. I was in favor of RWD for long time but having M6 and driving this car for 3 years figured out there is no business with drift or anything like that with this car. She always scared me when I pushed her on the corners. I remember when Randy Pobst drove M6 on race trak he said :" Driving the M6 on track is lots of work"; He is right because M6 is not a track car at all...So if BMW wants to be a competitor with cars in this class, there is no chance unless going for AWD but something adjustable. Hopefully they keep RWD for smaller cars like KING

Im getting bored of the M5--- can you believe I might got back to an RS7 or?????

I dont need a sedan per se but a car that can rack up around 5k miles a year. Maybe a 991.2 C2S? The tune is almost here and imagine how bad ass that car will be with 100 more tq and 70 more whp with a 3.0 hahaha and it traps 150 in the half mile stock plus it handles. Or the car in question via this thread but it will be an msrp car for a while.

I don't think I want to play that heavy in the market for car- full apportioned it will be in the 170's plus I'm guessing and there wont be any discount yet. But I do think its gonna kick some ass.

Get one of the Competition Edition M6's that are still kicking around and getting cheap? Otherwise go up to the AMG GT R and use the AMG GT for a daily?

I'm scared of M6's Even if I had money to waste this car would not be one I'd get right now. My friend at SB Porsche just took in a 16 with the comp pack and 1700 miles for......80k. So imagine the depreeeeesh on a CE car.

If I dump the M5 its to leave the brand in this segment and then come back when the M is out.

Amazing how the M6 has fallen off the cliff. Funny I have no hot passion to buy anything ......still loving the RS I smile every time when I start it up.

Yeah you're right but I guess this happens when cars are at the end of their life cycle.

At least you're not in NZ, we need to pay US$220k for a new one, then 2 year old ones are worth US$70k, AND we can buy demonstrators from the UK that are 2-6 months old with less than 4000 miles on them for US$75k. List price in the UK converts to US$135k, and apparently it is possible to negotiate to about US$100k.

In NZ you mention any of this to the dealers here and they stop talking to you.
