If you do drive vs. taking the Acela (which I think is the best idea), park at the Port Authority bus station garage. It's right inside the Lincoln Tunnel and it's self park (so no Ferris Buhler joyrides). It's the only place I park when I drive into the city. From there you're at 8th Ave and 42nd street, right in the heart of midtown. On your way home there's an exit ramp that dumps you right into the tunnel so you won't have to deal with any city traffic.

As others have already stated... taked the Acela! Did this trip many times when I was there in DC, as my best bud lives on 53rd and 7th in Manhattan. Train is the way to go, especially when there is weather... you can have cocktails on the train.
oh by the way have fun paying 70 a day in parking if you do choose to drive. As for Manhattan, you know where you are going out already or are you interested in Dinner/Drink spot recommendations?

Will start with a restaurant reco of my own - If you like Indian food, I highly recommend Bukhara Grill - and get the lamb chops. It's a nice enough place - particularly in spring/early fall if you can get a rooftop seating - but you go primarily for the food, not the atmosphere. Avoid the buffet - but then I would say that for every restaurant that does one. Thanks!

You guys are hilarious. I have to fish Bacon out of the M5. I keep leaving him in the M5 and forgetting about him. He really enjoyed the track at VIR a couple of weeks ago. He should def come to NYC with me and my chick, oh and the girl I'm dating too.

@RPiM5 yeah don't drive the M5 into NY especially now. If you get caught in the weather you will not feel safe to keep rolling forward, and the tires will already be bricks.
I have a M5 and S63 (w/ renntech tune) in the city right now. Both have snows fitted.. it's just a necessity. Can't drive either without. Also always watch for potholes / road creators. If you want a cheap and probably decent hotel to stay at for a few hours or a night.. near Times Square just outside the Lincoln tunnel there's a Yotel. There's a garage directly under it. Never stayed there though. Four seasons on 57th/58th or the Ritz near battery park. Always stay at one of those depending on where in the city I want to be. I always pay to have my car kept in the front. Very easy that way. Now a days I live on 5th and in the 30's. Have been there for six months so far. Been using yelp to find amazing, amazing places to eat. If you need any rec's to eat just PM me.. but yelp is your friend If you don't want to deal with driving throughout the city or have to deal with parking, you can park the car once and use Uber to get around. I do that sometimes.. they have black car's and black SUV's. You use you phone to hire, can GPS track where they are, and payment is automatic using your uber account so you can jump in and jump out.

http://www.21club.com/web/onyc/history.jsp classic location if you can get in http://thelambsclub.com can eat there too; Iron Chef Zacharians place but the bar is best http://pdtnyc.com if you can't get in here, get a hot dog at crib dogs through the phone booth there http://www.crifdogs.com http://www.deathandcompany.com/lounge/ speakeasy style.. food there too, hard to get in. http://www.brandylibrary.com/sections2007/home.htm more than just brandy... awesome bar http://amoryamargony.com SOther Teague will teach you more than you want to know about bitters and how to make the right cocktail Steaks: http://delfriscos.com/new-york Yes, its a chain but its the best chain in the world and this is their flagship http://www.baramericain.com/new-york-city-restaurant/ Bobby Flay's place, and never a bad meal here...best blackened prime rib I have ever had. http://www.keens.com Lots of old school ambience; get the mutton chop Tasting menu places -- I could say things like morimoto, la bernadin and momofuko, but those are really pricey and not necessarily the most interesting to go to.. checkout these three-- all world star chefs with great innovative menus http://www.annisarestaurant.com http://www.marcforgione.com http://wd-50.com Other cool places to check out -- http://www.eataly.com/nyc down by the flatiron building http://landmarc-restaurant.com marc murphys place in the time warner building -- way cheaper per se next door, but a good place to eat right off the park in a cool building http://www.dbbistro.com/nyc/ nice moderately priced french bistro http://www.burgerandbarrel.com Simply the best burger in NYC (the Bash Burger)... has won this award multiple times and is worth the trip to SOHO -- rest of the menu awesome as well http://53rdand6th.com the best halal cart in NYC.. I get all lamb, white and red sauce mixed. I'm sure there is a lot more I could recommend; give me a location on where you might be staying (sheraton on 53rd is always nice.. as is the W if you are going to midtown).
