Shipping it back was pretty pricey without a business account. I dropped the downpipe off at my local Indy shop instead. They'll round the end of the pipe and get it back to me by tomorrow. It will be cheaper than trying to ship it back. Maybe that will void the warranty but the warranty didn't help much in this case. |

100% agreed. I was pretty disappointed but I think I'm SOL at this point. The unit is well built overall so we'll see how it turns out. Hopefully, I will be happy with the sound since that is my main reason for getting this done. The side benefit is a little bit more power to stay conservative.

Chicane Motorsports for the win! They repaired the damaged downpipe and didn't charge me a dime! Great guys over there. Should have it installed this weekend. New injectors and dyno tune scheduled for 4/11.

Downpipe gaskets are delayed shipping. Arg!
And, 2013 models DO have the gasket also. It is just hard to notice because it sits flush with the turbo flange. It appears to be made from a graphite or fiber material. BMW Part #: 18307553601 |

Well, I FINALLY got everything installed - CTS Turbo 200-cell catted downpipes and new coilpacks, PCV valves, and front and rear O2 sensors. I also removed the carbon filters as recommended by my tuner.
First, I did not get a check engine light. Not sure if that kicks in after a while. I am currently on a custom e-tune, so that may be why the CEL isn't triggering. No smell at all. The exhaust is definitely a bit deeper/throatier like a proper V8 without any raspyness or drone. I can also hear the turbos spool/whistle better (especially under a gas station awning or underpass). That may be the carbon filters - not sure. There is a noticeable difference in the aggressiveness of the exhaust note between Sport Plus throttle mode and Economy. The exhaust is still quiet if I close the Meistershraft valve. Best of both worlds here now. The lady won't complain about my luxury car sounding like a "junk" car. I have an appointment tomorrow at Chicane Motorsports to install new injectors and get a custom tune on the dyno. I was mainly trying to get tuned to avoid a CEL, but I'll stick with the new tune since I believe a custom dyno tune is more reliable than an OTS map, remote e-tune, or tune-in-a-box option. I will post before and after startup videos later. The fitment of the CTS Turbo unit was great overall. One advantage of this one over others is the use of the stock brackets. Many of the aftermarket downpipes only have the V band clamp and maybe one bracket while the CTS Turbo downpipe uses both stock brackets. I did have to widen the hole of the driver's side bracket with a Dremel tool, but it took about 30 seconds to do that with a grinding tool. The passenger side exhaust end pipe was damaged at shipping so the gaskets wouldn't fit, but my shop fixed that no cost. Another good thing about the CTS Turbo downpipe is the heat shielding it comes with, which looks almost identical to the firewall heat shield. Also, if I could do it again, I would've just paid someone to install the downpipes. It was way too time consuming. |

Tuned today.
Max of 618 whp and 656 wtq. HPFP not keeping up at 165+ mph. Possibly having a fuel issue due to still having some winter gas here. Coming back in a month with new gas to see if the tuner can smooth out the top end a bit. Tuner doesn't think it is mechanical. Consistently pulls timing a bit but much less than on the previous tune. |

The new tune is EXCELLENT! Economy throttle on the previous tune felt very sluggish and heavy. The new tune feels much livelier in all three throttle modes. Smooth power delivery also.
The exhaust note with the new tune on this catted downpipe is perfect for my needs. No smell at all. Overall very happy. Highly recommend the CTS Turbo catted downpipe if you're looking for something with a bit more power without the fume smell and raspy/popping exhaust. I don't seem to have any wastegate chatter either. |

The lack of CEL is encouraging (Before you got pro-tuned). This is def on the list. Thanks for sharing |

It will throw a CEL if you are stock. I did not throw one because I was already on a pro tune with the stock DPs before the install.
Definitely recommend paying someone to do the injectors and probably the DPs. |
