+1 love the hud for music, Phone calls, turn signals, NAV, and in M mode with Tach. I did have to purchase a few pair of non polorized sun glasses but that was worth it.

I think HUD is indispensable. And I only use it for the speedometer. It stopped me from getting any more speeding tix compared with when I had an E92 M3 and I'd get pulled over all the time cause I wouldn't realize how quickly I'd be accelerating just to change lanes.

HUD is a must have. The only issue is that every car that doesn't have it after that is a pain in the ass to drive. You become dependent on it. People often complain about the boring instrument cluster (usually AMG drivers) but only because they haven't experienced the HUD. Worth every penny!

I never realized how helpful it was besides being in M1/M2..but on more than one occasion it's become helpful..esp the nav component..

Sucks with polarized sunglasses, but that's the only downfall.
Great for Navigation, music, and when doing 150+ on the tollway. My wife cringes and clings to the door when I'm pushing it and calling out the speed every incremental 10mph... |

I had it on my 650 GC and now on my f80 m3. Honestly, its cool, but I find myself using the regular gauges 95+% of the time. I do like that you can change audio sources and see right on the HUD, but for the speed I forget to notice it and end up still checking my gauges, and for the Nav I almost always forget the next turn is right there. . . Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think BMW did such a great job integrating everything into the regular gauges cleanly that I don't really see it being a massive difference.

I use my navi almost daily, that was one of my qualms with moving back to BMW, I disliked BMW navigation. I was surprised, with HUD the navi is awesome. I don't even need to use the voice or map anymore.
In M mode, what do the yellow rectangles above the RPMs indicate?? I have never seen them light up. I hoped it was a boost gauge, or G meter like vettes have. |

In Sport+/S3/MDM if you want to live next to red-line, while focusing on the road (via windshield) HUD (M view) is a must....

Hmmmm
I use it for some things, like Music, Navi, Transmission and Speed and not for others like Revs.
I've never found looking at classical analog dials to be a problem. Both require a change in ocular focus so its just a matter of how far your eyeball moves Personally I couldn't care less if its in the car or not. For me, its nice to have but not in any way essential as I don't find it contributes anything to the driving that wasn't there already. Voice control on the other hand is brilliant....it has my wife and I doubled up in laughter....I can never remember the commands, so make them up and its often hysterical what the car will come with |
