Damn just saw this thread. I haven't received mine (bought from first owner, I am second) so I don't know if they will send it to me. Also curious what is the exact reason they have done this

Im the third owner on mine and I received the letter from BMW. Just make sure you update your information as the new owner with BMW NA and your local dealership.

I recently had a work done at one of the BMW dealership, I asked them to print out warranty paperwork for my records. On one of the papers, it stated that my car is covered for fuel injectors til 120k.

FWIW I have a 550xi 2011 that constantly over the first 6 year span had fuel injector, hi pressure fuel pump, and coil issues.
Yes BMW applied a customer care package, replaced the timing chain (twice), replaced and re-replaced engine injectors, coils, pumps (in fact every pump) multiple times over, yet every month or to the dreaded drive train malfunction light came on, and the yes the engine rattled like a small well used two stoke. Then roughly a year ago, driving to work, I got another drive train malfunction warning light only this time the only part that would fix it was a new engine. Since then that dash indicator light has not been seen and all seems to be in order However, in hindsight, the main issues fell on the incessant need to address repeated fault codes for the fuel injectors and the hi pressure fuel pumps. Other parts were likely replaced because the dealership were either a little stumped or where informed to out of repair recommendation. So my advice for any present day owner is make sure injectors and pumps are checked and replaced with the latest versions. Best of luck! Note: I've ordered an M5 and so no I have not given up on BMW because when she ran fine it was a great experience, and to be honest BMW took care of the repair work in a professional manner. Note2: If the N/S63 engine hasn't been sorted now (i.e. with the latest M5 after all these years) then I may have to move on. |

They probably won't do anything unless the injectors are toast. I just had bank 2 replaced on mine using this warranty, my car wouldn't even stay started for 15 seconds and it was smoking like crazy. I have an aftermarket but I sent the picture of the paper on the 1st page and my SA said they had no idea. You can call BMW USA at 18008311117, speak to a rep and give them the last 7 of your vin. They will tell you if you are covered or not.
