Cup Holder Annoying Rattle

Has anyone experienced how to remedy a very annoying rattle that today just started from the cup holders. Makes no difference whether lid is open or closed something is making an annoying rattle sound when i go over the slightest bumps. Started this morning and I have never put anything other than a coffee cup in the holder and at that no more than twice in my 1100 miles of ownership. Any ideas on how to correct would be appreciated if other owners have experienced this problem. I hate to bring in to BMW service for this issue and have to turn car over to them to duplicate the sound , drive it etc, etc,...
