BPMSport OBD-II Tune Review

2 days ago Mike at BPMSport tuned my 2014 M5 competition remotely with their tune. The process was very easy and there were absolutely no issues with the install process. Having tuned other vehicles in the past I knew what to expect with all the crazy noises and beeps and flashing lights all of with are normal for any vehicle I have tuned.

So how does it drive? Well having been driving higher HP RWD vehicles for years first a tuned 335is and then an E60 M5 then to a 2013 M5 and now to a 2014 M5 nothing really scares me. Well now I am scared and it feels oh so good. It has been in the low to mid 40's with 32 degrees at night so obviously I haven't had the best road conditions but wow. 1st and 2nd gear are worthless in this weather obviously they were before and still are. But 3rd gear that is where the fun starts. That rush of boost you get while the car is still fighting for traction is intoxicating. Where it was kind of a yawn fest before for me now I don't want to let off the gas as the rpms climb higher and higher until 4th gear is shifted into. It is crazy fun. And I am so glad that I have the carbon ceramic brakes to back it up. As good as the regular M brakes are on the F10 I did drive them for a year the carbon ceramic are that much better and now much appreciated.

Driveability is exactly the same before being tuned you can not floor it drive normal and you wouldn't even know the tune was on, but then when you get on that gas peddle it is a whole other experience. One added bonus I have noticed but I will need to do some more testing as this doesn't make sense, but traction control isn't as controlling. Probably not exactly what is happening, but that's how it feels. I always drive in sport plus throttle and it is so much smoother now you can get up to speed so much faster without traction control telling you to f-off. It just makes the driving experience so much better. Now if you do things like going 45 floor it to the kickdown where it slams into 2nd yeah you aren't going anywhere traction control will say no and stop the car in its tracks. That's life don't do it

All I wanted in a tune when I started was no top speed limiter (even though I will probably never use it, if criminals are chasing me ever I will be glad I have it) And I wanted more power in 3rd gear I have always felt that once you get past the worthless 1st and 2nd gear 3rd is just boring. Well not anymore and if the tune just gave me those 2 things I would be happy. What I received though was so much more. It just seems to drive better while going slow traction control isn't kicking in as much and not because it is less, but because it is so much smoother than stock. The power just comes on so much better and I was not expecting that, but really appreciate it.

And to end this all Mike is a great guy he was very helpful in getting the tune installed and even though I didn't have many questions I am sure I can email or call him and he will answer them for me. I have lurked on BMW forums for years and I knew when I needed a turn I was going to get it from Mike at BPMSport. Hit reputation is the best and it is well deserving.

So yeah get the tune you won't be disappointed.

I have done business with Mike multiple times, I can say he always replies promptly and if he is busy like any business can be, he at least responds and setups a time to handle whatever needs to be done

Thank you sir, much appreciated. We are always here for our clients before, during, and after sale. We've tuned thousands of cars worldwide, and many of them are repeat customers - so we know we've done right by the owners.

Remote tune

Very thorough and very informative. Good to hear such praise for the tune.

From my experience Mike is very customer oriented. I was not even a customer of his and he still gave me great advice and tried to help guide me towards getting my M6 DME fixed when another tuner took a crap on me. He is known on here as a reputable tuner and the great part is HE PICKS UP HIS PHONE! He even calls you back. I corresponded with 10 tuners when I was planning out my tune and really found there was 3 that will actually talk on the phone with you. This goes a long way in my book. But hey, I'm a little old school and like to talk to a person who is going to remap my car. Unfortunately I didn't originally choose one of the 3 tuners I am talking about and I paid the price later. Any of you want my 2 cents on tuners just PM me. I had horror stories and great stories along my performance upgrade path.

Mike is a good guy had a talk with him about his tune and what I was looking for at the time for my e92 M3. I had called a few shops Dinan included for that set up I ended up going with Dinan just because I had just about ever other option Dinan had offered so I kept the car complete but told my self if I bought any of the newer M's M3-M4 or M5 that was turbocharged I would be going after his tune. Now that I just picked up an 14-M5 CP I see my self in the near future going to Mike and getting his tune.

Mikes good he answered me like 2 years later when I had my BPM adapter for my e92 m3 and didn't know what to do with it. I still have it. Pretty sure its still locked to that m3 from 2011/12 but as far as I know his reputation is still great, and still answers quickly.

These are simply errors that are displayed during the flashing process, which is completely normal. After the programming is completed, the car will be error free and ready for some top speed runs

Recently upgraded my ECU on a 2014 M6 GC CP. Post install, he suggested tweaking a few things so the setup would be tailored to my preference. Planning to swap out plugs, change to euro spec MDM and tame the burble a bit. Bigger tires are coming soon! Modding ECUs are new to me, so appreciate the patience in refining to my desires and driving habits, especially when I didn't know all the questions to ask prior to purchase. Now that's customer service!

Glad you're enjoying the tune Steve! Careful on those slick roads in Vegas, I've triggered traction control there at triple digit speeds a few times

just ordered BPM tune stage 1.

Mike explained the difference between stage 1 and 2 briefly.

I was satisfied with the phone conversation with Mike so I decided to order the tune same day. I researched a few other tunes like bm3, open, etc..
Even my mechanic told me to get bpm he felt more reliable with bpm compared to other tunes. Hopefully i can get it installed soon.

Here's a recent dyno sent to us from a customer in India running our Stage I tune. Dyno was done in 4th gear so we would have seen higher numbers in 5th or 6th :

Back again.
Now its stage 2 downpipe and stock exhaust.
I am scared to floor to the end... seriously.
My traction light is flashing all over the place in 3rd and 4th gear. It has winter tires now. I cant wait till summer for better traction.

Glad you're enjoying it! Even with good tires on certain roads you'll be seeing that light

Can remember multiples times in Las Vegas spinning the tires at triple digit speeds.

For anyone else interested in a tune, feel free to shoot us an email or message for a discount code as the holidays are nearing!
