stage 1 bmw installed, impressions

So I had a JB4 in one of my 335xi's before and it was a huge improvement in power.

I was excited to install a stage 1 I picked up last night and get similar results. During the install I also removed the charcoal filters, which btw look super restrictive, I'm not even sure how anything flows thru these.

Now granted I rarely run the car in full sport modes. Usually I put around in eco. However when I have turned up everything I've felt the monster come to life. Incredible torque and almost scary speed.

All pumped to see what she could do now I got her out, but instead of a jaw dropping night and day difference I found myself wondering if I actually lost power.

Now there are a few variables here... it's been mid 50's for the last month and last night hit 94 degrees.

So I ran it over and over. And I couldnt tell down low if it was just more traction control kicking in making it feel slower. So I turned that off. It felt quick however I had never ran the car without traction control on so that was a poor comparison.
Up top it pulled, but differently. Not the same torquey uptop pulling but felt more like when my old m3 would pull.

So 50 ish hp increase maybe feels a lot less impressive on a 560hp car? I really thought from what I read it would be night and day noticable. I honestly think if I sat in this car I wouldn't know it had a stage 1.

I'm setting up a dyno appointment and I'm hoping to at least see a numbers change to reflect. Maybe my butt dyno has just gone numb over the years.

I'd love to be able to edit my title to stage 1 BMS...

Always trust your gut/or butt dyno. Maybe you confuse the night/day difference with a stage 1 flash tune, which can net you +80-100whp and wtq.

does anyone have any feedback on running the stage one bms? like 50whp I'd think would be noticed.
I'm thinking Im going to have to remove it tonight and see how it feels. I honestly feel maybe I'm only feeling the improvement of the charcoal filters and theres no added boost happening.

I gained over 70rwhp with JB4, downpipes and MSR intakes. It didn't feel like it, but the numbers don't lie.

I felt a really big difference doing the Stage 1 BMS on my 14 CP, along with K&N/charcoal delete. Took my friend who has 2 500whp evos for a ride and he was super impressed with how hard it pulled. Second gear spins brand new PSS 295s from a 40 roll.

It def spins the same, but I felt like it did that before as well.

I had zero doubts though, it was a clear night/day difference in power. Probably 50 wheel from the mod according to butt dyno.

I'm more thinking it's not functioning or functioning wrong or my car was already flashed unknowingly to me.

I don't think you'll feel much of an increase in power down low. All the BMS Stage 1 does is increase boost so you should definitely feel it from 40+ as it should pull harder as boost kicks in and increases.

I was running 11.98 best in 1/4 mile and 3.7 0 to 60 no matter what I do. all with soft low rpm launches on stock mpss tires.
with bms stage 1 I got 11.7 1/4 mile and 3.5 sec 0 to 60. with very gentle low rpm soft launches.
traction is the main issue with stock tires.
there are guys on the forum who got 11.4 sec 1/4 mile with bms stage 1 tune but they had sticky tires also I guess.

I am currently looking at replacing my rears with toyo vs mickey thompsons.
also will get ess ecu tune.
