How much TQ/HP can our beasts take?

wondering how many people are running catless DP's and an aggressive tune with leaving the clutches alone and not having worries about blowing the engine/parts.

feel free to chime in and brag about your beasts!

I am around 630whp / 742bhp and feel safe with my tune, exhaust and intake .. I wouldn't go over 700whp. Your clutch may not be safe after 650whp and your motor over 700.

It's not horsepower that blows engines, its mostly torque..I've read to keep torque under 650 for the clutches and motor to be happy being all factory.

After 700ft-lb need to be very careful else the likelihood of a catastrophic event is magnitudes higher. Now, motor can tolerate 850ft-lb but it has to be approached very carefully with temps, timing, ignition, fuel, boost profile etc.

There are tons of s63tu's with bend rods even in the 22psi range.

so it's not just the psi being at 22 but also HP over 800? Or is 22 psi basically going to being the crank HP over 800?

Usually they get bent rods around 22psi with having boost spiking early right? I take it that is obviously just one factor that plays into getting bent rods at 22psi. As long as you have a tuner who knows what they are doing it should be pretty safe over 700 ft-lbs, right?

instant torque at low RPM is what kills GTR rods, sounds like its an equal culprit for M5's the way allmotor just described it.

Both torque at low RPMs and detonation/pre-ignition. These motors are notorious to detonate at around 3K RPM even stock... need to tune that out.

What exactly is detonation?

This?

Knocking (also knock, detonation, spark knock, pinging or pinking) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines occurs when combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder does not start off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope ...
